Somewhat ok with this, though still annoyed, dont have the money to upgrade my rig anytime soon so getting this for the xbox360 is a way cheaper alternative, but has THEMAN said, it's sucks that a PC version is not longer being developed, has there would of been a great mod fan base if that had released the Mod Tools on PC also, but no more icon_sad.gif.....

back to Batman Arkham Asylum....

So much for it being the game that would finally utilise multi-core processes fully... *sigh*

It's been in development for so long I assumed they were working on a PC version, what the hell have they been doing then?

I'm willing to bet it would not be difficult for them to release it for PC.

But, given piracy rates on PC, more and more developers are deciding to skip it altogether, as the profit margin just isn't high enough.

The phrase "tragedy of the commons" comes back to me.

With Microsoft probably giving them a big bag of cash for the exclusive they probably told Remedy that there wouldn't be any commercial reason to release on PC true. Seems like Alan Wake will make a lot of money through future DLC chapters which would also be a bit of a hassle on PC.

What?

This game was supposed to be a benchmark for Direct X 10 and Multi-Core CPUs, and had been talked up as such for quite a while, then all of a sudden, PC support is dropped, and the only way to play it is on aged console hardware?

I was looking forward to this for it's story, coming from Remedy, like the Max Payne games, and the technical advancements it would be bringing. All I have seen since last year's E3 has been a disappointment from what was first seen years ago.

It's quite ironic that Alan Wake was once touted as being the reason for needed multi-core and DX10 when it will be released years late on 360 which is a pretty basic computer in itself. I thought I remember reading back in August that the game was done and was just being polished but can't remember where. After the 2 awesome Max Payne games I was hoping Remedy would continue on their merry way but 7 years is a long time between games. Lucky they have Futuremark.

well, whatever it was.. when it finally debuted at E3, it was a third person shooter.....

and yeah.

its a pity this isn't going to hit PC because the ONLY/MAIN reason why this got as much press was the DX10 thing. DX10 visuals!!!! ...

fail.

I have the grave feeling this is just the first announcement of things that won't be in the game that they claimed would be years ago.

This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.

Translation: We're already over-budget and behind schedule so we made the decision to cut the platform that takes longer to test and has lower sales =P

Except it's taken so long to come out DirectX 10 has already been cast into the pit of "obsolesce" in favour of the more powerful DX11. Being a poster child Microsoft game they wouldn't release it without the newest technology which would force yet another delay.
