Still a lot of people levelling past 10 though. But not playing past 10 is stupid, 10 is when classes start to become more defined, get their main moves etc.

Nice, nice.
I quit WoW 2 months ago (again) but I know for sure I'll be back for Cataclysm, to level at least 1 new character to 85, there is no doubt in my mind. Haha.
Once you are sucked into the blackhole juggernaut that is WoW, you will never fully escape its event horizon. _________________ xfire = andylulz

From my days of playing vanilla wow level 1-40 was the most fun. Level 50-58 was torture. Things really picked up once you could start end game content. I played all classes to about 40 but only even got a Pally and a Rogue to lvl 60.

wow was actually better before all the expansions.
Back when everything was actually somewhat challenging.
I quit wow about 2 years ago and I do really miss the 6 hour 40 man raids as a best guild of the server, but I really can't afford to spend time playing it again.
Only if time was infinite...

Yes but when you're paying for something monthly and you're not utterly dedicated, why would you continue playing it you're bored because the classes have nothing interesting at the lower levels. It's kind of like KoTOR for me, I'd love to replay the game again but the first world is so boring I can't bring myself to play through it again.

If you started a trial account, how could you not go beyond level 10? Although I can't really blame them for quitting early...I only got to level 18 after 6 days on the trial because I'd had enough. I found WoW to be a boring grind-fest with one repetitive quest, slow combat and it takes an age to get anywhere. I think I would have fallen into a coma if I'd played the last 4 trial days.

You can't blame the so-called drop-outs for not continuing on. It should be in the developer's best interests to capture the attention of the players as soon as possible. Otherwise you're just being smug.
With Cataclysm apparently catering to a wider audience, I think that perhaps the sign-up rate for new members in WoW has been dropping (due to the developers largely catering to the more dedicated players) and Blizzard is just now trying to attract new players with the add-on. _________________ Putting the pro back in alien probing techniques.

The game started to go downhill with Burning Crusade, and I bet they will just make it worse and worse as long as they are focusing on all the casual players.
It already has a wide enough audience as it is. If it tires to please too many people, they'll end up not pleasing anybody.

PRO TIP: The majority of the trial accounts that don't make it past level 10 are gold sellers. There are a LOT of these.

Even with that dropout rate, the amount of people who still play is very high still. _________________
