Yeah its pretty annoying eh.......them companies so stingy.....they should just keep it up until the game releases, its good advertising material, and gives fans even more excitement. |
I don't know what the problem is :S That they accidently put all the preorder/dr pepper/collectors edition items up for free instead of having to input a code?
I just don't understand the obsession with needing every single bit of armor or weapon. Its not like having that one or two extra items will make the game experience better. But I hear lots of people complain about DLC like this saying that they want the 'complete' game. Its a frakkin helmet/gun/etc. It doesn't change the game so its just as complete as before.

Some people are saying the equipment is appearing in-game, but isn't appearing on the Cerberus Network Access menu.
A lot of the DLC isn't 'live' until tomorrow anyway due to the game not officially launched. _________________

Yeah, I know that ...
I'm not talking about this instance and this instance alone. Just DLC in general. You need to buy collector's editions to get so and so, or whatever ... Regardless of whether it's a helmet or whatever, it's still all quite silly.
I guess I was just having a little vent about it. _________________

I don't get it. Why have some much DLC at launch? Shouldn't it be in the game? _________________ Shin J Leon.

BioWare/EA. Most of the launch DLC is bonus stuff like armor, and some of it looks pretty crappy. The only significant chunk of DLC is the Zaeed mission and character, which I figure was left off the disk to encourage people buying the game new.
It will be there Day 1, so I guess its no real issue. Install the game, get the DLC for free the day you buy it, and its like it came with the game anyway.
Other free DLC like the Hammerhead and what-not simply didnt make the cut for disk printing. A lot of stuff gets cut in games. BioWare's approach is to now finish that stuff rather than scrap it entirely, and release it as DLC. _________________

I was reading some dev posts in the Penny Arcade forums. The devs were saying that once they have 'finished' the game, they send it off for classification. They then start working on the DLC basically immediately and they have a month or two to get that all done before the launch of the game. There is a much quicker turnover rate for DLC classification than that of the full game so they are able to be released simultaneously.

OK, I'm all ready to bask in the glorious glory of Mass Effect 2. I finished my ideal playthrough of the first game as Harrison Shepard, the devastatingly handsome and charming Vanguard. Wrex saved, Kaidan sent to die like the worthless loser he is, Liara snubbed and Ashley all set to be dumped in favour of Tali (after a Miranda playthrough, naturally). I was dreading not finishing the game on Level 59, but I finally got to 60 during the fight up the Presidium Tower.
I've been watching the ME2 launch trailer over and over to feed my immense anticipation, but the wait is torture. I'm even starting to warm to the new game's Normandy, and I didn't think I'd ever forgive the designers for destroying my beloved Normandy SR1. The SR2 doesn't have the moving wings of the first one, but it has twin tails like an F-14, which paves the way for all kind of Mass Effect/Top Gun fantasies. "Joker, I command you to slam on the brakes so he'll fly right by!"
Apparently the Steam preload starts 48 hours before the game unlocks, which should make it 8am tomorrow (WA time). _________________

The SR1 is indeed sex, but you gotta admit the interior for the S2 is pretty damn nice. _________________

I'm hoping that I'll be able to pick it up today since the game was leaked on torrent *crosses fingers*
Anyone know file sizes of DLC? I can connect to XBL on dialup, but I don't want to spend 20+ hours downloading stuff.
I'm hoping that Adam Baldwin has a big role in the game. If only they got Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk as well. But I'm real happy to hear Martin Sheen's voice. And we got an Aussie voice there in Yvonne Strahovski (I thought she was British when I saw the behind scenes stuff from Chuck)..
Hmm.. So you got Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck.. Then you got Tricia Helfer and Michael Hogan from nBSG.. Interesting... _________________

Tom Chick is pretty savage.
And I admit, point number 9 was something I was concerned about the moment they said they were ramping up the shooter aspects.

I dont get that though. I mean, its the same core game as ME1, but the shooting has been refined a lot.
The game still has all the other RPG elements the 1st game had.
They said they have tried to balance the game 50/50 between RPG and action. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

I'm not sure someone who openly admitted to not liking the first game is really the greatest person to critique the flaws of the followup. The list had some genuine complaints, some things that worried me, but those numbered about three out of the ten. The rest were just... blatant opinion piece sort of stuff; niggles and purely personal preference get in the way of any objective opinion. How does a shooter focus result in stripped down characters? The points of interaction are more or less the same, so I don't see how stats, or being able to customize them takes away from their personalities... _________________

OK, so can anybody answer this question.
How do you carry over your choices from ME1 without a save game?
Are there prompts to indicate which choices you made in ME1? Or if you don't use a save game, it just uses a vanilla default?
I'm talking about stuff like the Insect Queen (die/live), Wrex (die/live), Suicide mission choice etc, Concil (die/live) choices. _________________ Shin J Leon.

You can choose somethings but others are default. I think Wrex dies if you you don't import but that's all I know.

I know just after the opening mission, some characters in game ask you a series of questions regarding what you did in certain situations, such as did the counsel live / die etc. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

I don't understand the complaints behind the merging of two genres in this game. In my opinion, RPGs have lots and lots of baggage attached. Inventory management/statistics coming out your ass/etc. All I have read about Mass Effect 2 is that it is trying to remove the tedium from the RPG part of the game. What really MADE ME1 was the story and the dialogue. You played the role of Commander Shepard and that was what sucked people in. This game will be exactly the same except less tedium in nearly every aspect of the game. No more relying on a silly number to see if you are going to hit whats in your sight. No more having to spend 30 minutes turning everything in your inventory into omni-gel since you're at the item limit, then you hit the omni-gel limit.
I am looking foward to this game so much. This and FFXIII are my most anticipated games of the year. I just hope that someone breaks street date and starts selling it today

Not sure if anyone has posted this anywhere, but here's 1up's review.
I'm not really understanding the negativity with how the game has changed from being an RPG with shooter mechanics to a shooter with RPG mechanics ... I mean, it's going to be essentially the same game regardless of how a sentence is worded, and we know enough about how Bioware's games works by now. But I thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested. _________________
