Hey guys,
Over the past months I have had a problem with my wireless internet. Every 20-30 mins it just loses it connections and every few hours it just disconnects completely, but it can also disconnect at any time randomly but it's usually after a few hours, even if your not using it. I have no idea what it could be wrong with my internet. Someone please help me

So is it the wireless dropping out between your computer and router or is your router losing connection to the internet?
What sort of connection is the router using? (ADSL, ADSL2+, Cable, etc) _________________

It changes from my laptop losing connection for a few seconds with the router, and from the router completely losing connection.
The connection is ADSL2+

I have had a feeling it could be the wireless router, so if I get a new one the problem should be gone? If so,would it be better getting a router/modem in one instead of having a modem and router

Having it together is cheaper but if it breaks, everything breaks. Separating the modem and router means that if one breaks, you just replace whatever breaks.
I usually just go with the first option, easier to set up and no need to power both with it's 2 in 1. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Could you recommend any good brands/models? Because I may as well buy a whole new setup

If you get a modem/router combo, I would like to put in a vote over the Billion brand. The ones that come with internet plans are generally crap (with a few exceptions). When I picked up my 7401 series model router, it's been great.

I dont know about router/modem combos, but personally I'm on telstra cable so I literally have to use that modem. As for routers I HIGHLY suggest the linkysys wrt54GL. Not only is it cheap, but it runs DD-WRT (custom firmware) on it with minimal fuss opening up heaps of options if you're willing to invest some time into tweaking it.
I've had it for the better part of 6 months now and it hasn't skipped a beat. You wont find it in normal retail shops though. Places like umart will have it though. _________________

I have looked for this model and I can't find it in most online stores I visit. Are there any other good models/brands that will do the task. The post above mentioned Billion, are they good? Does any else recommend them

Billion modems are excellent quality. I've been very happy with mine since I upgraded from my old one (a slightly unstable Netgear). _________________

Another good alternative to the WRT54GL is the Asus WL-520GU which also can run DD-WRT but is a bit cheaper. I'm using one right now and its been absolutely excellent.
