So here's the deal.
I'm going to be running an online tabletop RPG for duckay and two of her friends, using the Unknown Armies setting. It posits a modern day world in which magic is real, but very weird. You get magic in one of two ways, either by:
a) Devoting your lifestyle to a paradoxical obsession, which thus reality can't handle, and you can snap reality a little and make it do stuff it shouldn't. An example of this style is Dipsomancy -- You get blindingly drunk (thus losing control) yet gain magic power from it (thus gaining control, hence the paradox) and can then cheat reality. Or you can;
b) Go with reality's flow in a way that empowers you, by structuring your life around one of the archetypal roles in human society. Reality assumes you are that role and starts shaping your life to match. An example of this style would be imitating The Mother (assuming you're female). You wear an apron 24 hours a day. You make sure you spend most of your time looking after children. (Working in a day-care center would be excellent.) You wear images of teddy bears. If possible, carry a rolling pin. Play out the role well enough, and you can start to intuitively sense children's problems to startling accuracy (and thus get insight into their parents). At high levels, you could be killed. As in, head blown off killed. And you'd keep fighting to protect a child, and only when they were safe drop dead.
It's a very weird, cool setting. Very David Lynch meets Tim Powers. My players are going to work in a McDonalds. They'll be part of the world's largest magical conspiracy. (No, it's not McDonalds, not quite. Bear with me.) Mak Attax is the name of that conspiracy, and every last one of them works for McDonalds in America. They've been dropping magickal charges into the food for about ten years now at key restaurants, which line up with ley lines across the country. In theory, their hope is to spark a magical renaissance where magic can be openly used once again instead of kept hidden and secret for safety's sake.
It's not as cool as it sounds.
In practice, most of them are teenagers who somehow stumbled into it, think it's crazy cool being part of an actual conspiracy, and have no real devotion to the cause. There's only about ten percent of the conspiracy who aren't completely clueless, totally incompetent, and magically empowered. But they manage to get by with people who are two out of three.
So, where do you guys come in? Well, in two ways.
1. I could use a sounding board for ideas. I'm also fishing about on RPG.net, but sometimes getting the advice of people who aren't familiar with the game is even better. Helps me get crazy ideas.
2. Mak Attax communicate via a mailing list online. I'm planning to set up something like this, and need some people to help me fill it up. You can, seriously, discuss anything on there. Discuss new movies. Books. Games. Or you could have fun playing a magical crazy on it who's trying to tell everyone else what the REAL deal with that movie is. The amount of actual work on the list is dwarfed by usual internet fluff, and I need people to provide that fluff!
So, anyone wanna help me out?

Apart from the fact that it's an awesomely dismissive comment, as if he wasn't paying attention at all, there's the whole:

This thread is even more confusing than that math one. Or maybe I'm just too tired. I read your intro post twice and I still have no freaking idea what's going on.

I'm unsure, but I think Benno's now put me into his own RPG where I make magic out of being horribly confused.
That said, I think this is now either officially an open-thread or lockable.

If I saw a thread telling me to stay out, I get this feeling it wouldn't quite work.
