That's weird since when I was at the JB in Brisbane CBD MacAthur Central (Queen St) at lunch today, the Climax Edition had that triangular 3 for 1 sticker on it, on the shelf.
not sure about Darksiders since it still had the pre-order stickers (Bayonetta didn't BTW).

Well he told me the current 3 for 1 trade in deals are still running, and there's no plans to add to it.
I've called both JB Hifi in town (Melbourne, Lonsdale and Bourke), spoken to 2 differently people and they both said the same thing, they probably had a number of enquiries about it cause the guy told me about the Darksiders thing in addition to the Bayonetta enquiry without me asking about it - basically he said along the lines of "no we're not doing the 3 for 1 deal for Bayonetta and it'll be the same for Darksiders".
Regarding 1mpr3gn4t0r's the signs could have been misleading, I just called your JB Hifi Macarthur Building and spoke to someone in games and they too said there's no 3 for 1 deal for Bayonetta. _________________

After all this time I finally believe the statements made in the thread title. The best game in its genre that I have ever played, and is sure to become one of my all-time favourites. I had started to play through God of War for the first time for a couple of weeks before playing this, and sadly I can't see myself ever playing it again, it's just so boring compared to the speedy, over-the top ridiculoussness of Bayonetta. I have a heap to say but I'll only be repeating pretty much what Bronze has said.
Climax edition with the gun looks awesome, can anybody here confirm yet on its ****ty quality? Going to try and buy it individually one day, but if it's crap I'm going to put my money to one of those awesome figures shown on the previous page instead.

My guess would be that the two games belong to very small, no-name developers compared to major games/franchises belonging to the worlds biggest developers? Therefore the price that JB buy Darksiders at would be higher than, say Call of Duty, so it wouldn't be worth them doing a trade in deal.

I've finally opened my climax ed. to look at it, it comes with everything exactly as advertised in the stock photos.
As for the gun itself, while it is heavy and apparently made out of metal, the paint job is not so good. The gold linings overflow/deviates from its grove and onto the main body a bit, similar to what u expect to see from mass produced plastic toys. It is also non articulate, so the trigger and stuff is just carved out from the main piece. In summary, kind of what u expect from a free preorder toy item.

Here's some images of the Climax Edition. Enrique's description is pretty much spot on. Gun comes separate in a box, packed in foam.
I did notice the metal frame the gun sits on, they changed the design slightly, a bit more simpler.
It's not much to write home about.

It might just be the photos, but that looks really crappy. And the stand looks like it's plastic, not metal. Glad I didn't bother.

Another thing is that it wouldve been nicer if the outer box for the game+artbook+cds were made with a tougher cardboard with pronounced raised edges for the cover pic. (like the gears of war 2 limited edition). The current box is made of soft paperish cardboard, and the sides have creases due to box being slightly squashed.
Also, the paper sleeve for the CD is boring, compared to the superbly packaged and presented japanese pre-order CD.

I skipped the Climax edition. The GAME dude bought it out and it was $119.95. I said I don't want it, I want to price match JB for $89. I checked Big W before they went, they didn't have any in stock/on display. Ah well. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Well, the gun was an added bonus on top of the other Collector's Ed. gear (for pre-ordering), so if you're a fan of DMC (or good action games), there isn't much to lose. You might even be able to make the extra $20-30 back by selling the gun...

Ok I just played about an hour of Bayonetta......I haven't even checked out her butt and this game is pretty freaking amazing already!!!
The character control and movement is ultra responsive, u can basically make her go anywhere u want anytime u want, even midway during a combo. And speaking of combos.....there are so many and they flow together seamlessly, plus the addition of witchtime and bullet climax, the battle system is already very deep and I haven't even unlocked most of her other abilities yet.
I don't care if the replica gun was disappointing...this game sure is living up to the hype so far!

Sticker had $99 on it at GAME. Probably the online price your thinking of.
Game is great so far. Up to chapter II. Not as mind blowing as I would have liked, but I'm sure it is about to get better. I certainly like the main character and setting more then DMC anyway.

U mean how to see the achievements/stats for each chapter? It shows up once u finish the chapter, but I don't think u can see it again later on. Like, when I finished the prologue, I died and continued once, and I saw a skull under "items used" on the stats page immediately after I finished it. But I wasn't able to access the stats page or summary page again later on.
I don't know if I should replay it, coz on some games, in order to unlock stuff, u can't use a "continue" during the game.
Oh well, might do a full playthru first and worry about additional unlocking on the 2nd playthru. Don't wanna spoil myself too quickly

Erm....fairly sure I saw it for $79 in the store as well........but since u bought it already, its all good.

Anything beyond art books and soundtracks isn't a big sell to me. It's just useless crap all these badly made figures and trinkets. Although I have to say that the gun looks a heck of a lot better than the farcical Batman Batarang. That was hilariously bad.
I'm still waiting for my pre-order call from JB. It seems it's already being sold from the above posts but JB really sticks to the street date now. _________________

Well if that's the case, then I got ripped off at GAME. I think I'll have a look today and see if the guy did pull a fast one on me. That's pretty rude if he did.
Yeah I had the some problem, you see the stats after you finish a level, but I couldn't work out how to see all the stats on the levels you have completed. _________________ Shin J Leon.

You can check out your Play History on the submenu, which is accessible on the introductory screen before each chapter by pressing a shoulder button.
Also, LeonJ, you haven't seen anything yet. Bayonetta explodes (figuratively) at about Chapter 5 and maintains a hectic pace until its amazing series of climaxes.

I am finding the combat a bit hard to get to gripes atm too. I'm not sure whether to use the RB or not. She walks so slowly when you are locked on.
DMC gives you more tools as you progress. This game gives you a whole bunch of stuff off the bat and makes you deal with it. _________________ Shin J Leon.

My Climax Edition was just shipped from Fishpond ($86)
Even if the gun is fail, I vow to use it in one of the many movies my friends and I make, as it still looks good when not looked at close up. _________________ The best FPS is Pokemon Snap Facebook Group

I'm only up to chapter 2 and find it pretty damn good already, if it gets even better then I'm in for a real treat!

Yea me too.....the action is very frantic, she moves so fast it will take alot of practice to get out all the psycho combos. And the RB is indeed a bit clumsy to use. I don't even use it coz it feels too awkward to have to hold it down and press the punch/kick/shoot buttons at the same time. I prob only use it to activate techniques like "stiletto", since I can never get the "press forward twice quickly" right.

^^ I assume that would void any achievements that you are yet to unlock?
Also on the same boat as Bronze for RB also, have not used it once. It actually throws out one of those red ingredients each time you press it, are they supposed to actually do something when thrown? Kinda seems pointless.
Took my time with the first playthrough and finished it in 14 hours of gametime. If I skipped every cutscene, it wouldve been at around 10 hours I reckon, there's just way too many cutscnes between verses/chapters that drag on for too long. Luckily most of them are cool to watch, though
Currently up to chapter 5 on hard difficulty, and the hard difficulty shows just how lenient the 'witch time' is activated in normal mode by dodging at the so-called last possible moment. I must've died about 20 times on the second verse of chapter 1 before I could advance in hard mode, it's so much harder to activate.
The one thing I don't like is how you can completely skip verses. There's one chapter where 4 verses are activated by knocking over statues to trigger a few sets of enemies. This can be completely skipped by running straight past them, and you can still complete the level and get all of the achievements, which feels kind of cheap. There hasn't been one single chapter where I've been able to play through every verse, I always seem to miss something.

Alfheim portals count as 'verses' so that might be where you're coming up empty. Most of them are hidden in really goddamn ridiculous places where you'd never even consider looking.
There's an achievement for completing all of the Alfheim portals too. I think my favourite challenge was staying airborne for 60 seconds. Very clever solution to that. _________________
