Yeah, my mate said that KMart are going to slash 50bucks off the price of PS3s after Christmas, if that's true then I may pick one up and try and pry my Uncharted disc out of my YLOD'ed one.
Still, I'm really not happy about this - paid $1,000 for basically 2 years of play.
Freaking ridiculous, they should really follow Microsoft's lead and offer an extended warranty for this issue!

Well. I have changed my mind.
I sent in my PS3 to: http://www.repaircentral.com.au/
For a fix on YLOD.
I'm going to buy a slim this week hopefully and once I get my fixed PS3 back, I will use that Data Transfer option.
I just don't know which Slim Bundle to buy...

Yeah I think I may go down your option, except wait out until my repaired console dies again.
Do you know what warranty they give you though?
And how did you send it in?

Okay cheers. That's freaking risky hey...
Another question iorkara, did your PS3's fan run when it YLOD'ed? On the website it says that you won't hear the fan run at all. Mine actually does run a little bit before shutting down, but it does show the other symptoms of YLOD.

Well, I got my YLOD'ed PS3 back today.
It works, yay.
First thing I do after putting my 320G HDD back in it will be a backup of all saved data.
Lesson for me: BACK UP MY DATA! Cause this was a close call.
