I was like, right, this is a good ending? It's predictable, then bam. So unexpected.

Wow! What an ending to what is my favorite season of Dexter.
Spoiler: I was so upset when Rita died, she's probably my favorite character in the show! But at the same time I was glad that there was a twist in the end, otherwise it would have been exactly the same as season 3 ending, Dexter thinking he is going to be a good family man..then not being one.

Totally disagree. (possible spoiler follows) I usually don't get disturbed by the violence in Dexter, but I was freaked out during the murder. Maybe it was the suspense, but Dexter really looked pissed when he killed Trinity. Even when he murders people with blood, it's often filmed in a non-violent way, but this shocked me.
The only thing that annoys me with this show is that there are quite a few plot holes...well more like things that he should be caught from are always overlooked.
But great season, especially after I thought season 3 was a little stale.

Monster bump time! I just finished watching all of season four of Dexter and agree with the holy s**t sentiments. That was right up there with the season 3 finale of Lost in terms of shocking swerves that leave you gobsmacked. It really makes me curious as to just where the next season is going to lead. Hands down the best season of the series even without the final few minutes of the final episode. It left me feeling pretty cold but I still have to applaud the show-runners for the way they did it.

Just finished Season 4.
I gotta say, its probably one of the best seasons, if just for John Lithgow and his chemestry with Dexter. It wasn't a completely surprising season, but the character interactions were all top notch, and it had a really good pacing. I really like all seasons of Dexter, but coming off Season 3, which felt a bit slow for the first half, this one really kept up the pace.
The twist? I didn't see it coming in it being that particular person, but my sister stupidly spoiled to me that someone would...go that way. I assumed it wouldn't be who it was due to how the episode was playing out, and instead was expecting it to be someone else, so there was at least some surprise. Though I did gather who it was once Dexter did the deed.
Still, fantastic season. Its the only season to really end on such a big note too, with past seasons instead wrapping themselves up nicely. I do worry how Season 5 will pan out. Dexter has done a pretty good job of having enjoyable, seasonal contained plots that still reference past seasons, but with Season 4's ending its pretty much forcing its way into Season 5. The burdon on Dexter now and the dramatic character change has to be convincing, but also not an extention of this season.
A hole has been dug, and I hope the writers can crawl out.

I really hope this season they get someone very very unexpected to play a bad guy role because it worked so well with lithgow....

Very cool trailer. A bit revealing though. Best thing about it was seeing Quinn take up Doakes' mantle. That hunter/hunted dynamic between him and Dexter is going to be awesome to watch.
