Muramasa - The Demon Blade is a 2D "Slash-em-up". Vanillaware are known for putting extreme detail in the graphics, and Muramasa is a fine example of their work.

The dialogue is all in Japanese with English subtitles. There is no English voice acting whatsoever.
Muramasa can be played with the Wiimote/nunchuck, Classic controller, and even the Gamecube controller.

Here is some gameplay:

This game comes out December 3 2009. I was able to pick up a copy yesterday somehow. JB Hi-Fi had at least 2 copies on shelf.

I feel this game is under-hyped. It's a pretty good title and not many people have heard of it. It isn't mentioned in quite a lot of catalogs and websites I have found.
If you like what you see, I'd recommend giving it a go.

Its definitely an entertaining game. Anyone who loved Odin Sphere would definitely love this game. What's really great is that Muramasa doesn't suffer from the slowdown that Odin Sphere does.

For the gameplay, I like how Vanillware found another way to keep players from simply button mashing to win. In Odin Sphere, if a player attacks too many times in a row, they would get stunned. This time, if players attack wrecklessly they'll find themselves with broken weapons being unable to defend themselves.

Must-buy, in my opinion. Solid as a rock. A little repetitive at times but the highly accessable gameplay means you can pick it up in short instances and still make heaps of progress while having a lot of fun.

Graphics are some of the best 2D work I've seen and, surprisingly, look gorgeous on a HDTV.

Totally forgot about this - ill be getting at lunch time hopefully!!!

When this game came out in Japan in March - they had indicated a Q1 2010 release date for europe - so its been completely off my radar... then when PALGN had a Dec 3 release date, I was pumped.

Looks to me to be the evolution of The Legend of Kage... I had a famicom, the red and white one in the old days and LoK was one of the four cartridge games i had.

Grrr - more money to be spent!

Timon - which JB did u go to - im in the city right now - hopefully there are copies in Bourke st!

Yeah, I seen 2 copies in my local JB, didnt even know it had a release date in Australia. I would have bought it, along with Tales of Symphonia, but I couldnt justify paying double the price of what you can pay on ebay.

It's sold out or unavailable at CDWOW, Fishpond, DVDCrave and Game's online store. I've got two copies which just arrive today from the UK. icon_razz.gif

There was one on Ebay, but it disappeared before I could get it. icon_sad.gif

I think I'm going to miss out on this one ...

Is it a local release or did they just put the rating stickers over the European rating?

This game has a wierd sort of balancing where the easier difficulty is too easy, and the harder a smidge too hard. I get destroyed during boss fights (just beat the giant flaming demon wheel), but at least the game lets you get straight back into the action without making you watch the dialogue again.
