Gooberman is a fine speaker though . He isn't some guy who just wants to get a R18+ for a gore fix. Plus, isn't a gamer stereotype is one that stays all day at home just gaming all day and is unaware of the affairs in the outside world? .
For me I couldn't care less if a speaker is of a particular background, sex or looks on this cause, what I do care though is whoever is organising for it knows what he/she is doing and is intelligent, dedicate and is serious, which Gooberman does possess. He is also perfect as he was working in the gaming industry and the classification affects his work.
I saying this as a person who is still just a fencesitter in this matter but I am proud of what Gooberman is doing. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

No slight to Mr. Gooberman, whom I share a common vision with (although vastly differing opinions on the possibility of achieving it, and which methods would be most suitable toward it). My concern is media impression. Remember, the media does not handle zeitgeist well. It handles very short, swift and easily manipulated moments. Don't give them one.

I know you're all arguing against JackSlack here and defending me, which I appreciate, but the man has a point here. It's not a point that I've ignored. I've been well aware of this since I first had the thought of running a rally.
To that end, I am trying to arrange a guest speaker to represent both ends of the age spectrum. You'll all hear if I'm successful or not. _________________

I'd just like to note I don't feel at all attacked. I know I'm playing the Cassandra here, and it's an unpopular role. I was ready for a lot worse. Instead, I've gotten gentle rebuffs at most. It's refreshing.
I'm also very glad to hear you've been considering these issues, Gooberman. Good luck.

Aye. An ex workmate is a native South Australian, and is very up to date with State politics down there. There are a lot of people there that don't like Atkinson and aren't happy with the way he's doing things. However, the opposition is such a joke that there's virtually no challenge.
I doubt this latest Rann "scandal" will result in a change of government down there. _________________

I'm not a very expressed person on this forum, but I will certainly be there! I've also managed to talk a few more people into the idea, so hopefully they will support this as well!

Sadly Brisbane is too far away for me or I would gladly go. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Hopefully I'll see a few of you tomorrow. I have to get a bus back to work at around 4, so won't be able to join in on drinking unless someone is keen to start early.
Left 4 Dead 2 (unedited) arrived for me yesterday as well. Seems like good timing. _________________

I'd say maybe 100 people turned up? It's hard to estimate though. I was there...didn't say hello to anyone though as everyone else seemed to know each other and I was sunburnt and hungover and didn't recognise anyone (besides goober who was always busy). I was wearing black shorts, white tee and black backback standing right behind the cameraman if anyone saw me. Had to walk off and find a seat during the 2nd speaker as I felt like I was going to faint. :/
But really good day, I'm glad I went. _________________

Probably had about 60 to 70 people show up. Fairly decent. _________________
