I'll say you better off waiting. You won't learn enough to understand all in a few months. You will also pick up the language much better being in Japan but that also will take time as well.

A friend of mines tried to learn Japanese to start understanding anime in Jap without relying on subtitles. After 2 years of japanese school she still didn't know enough to translate japanese text from magazine to english and always had to refer to the dictionary.

Plenty of people complained about the lack of Dual audio in the MGS games. mailny the wankers on metalgearsolid.org . You'd be suprised how many people there hate David Hayters performance.

I just watched the latest trailer... oh god... I cringed. I don't know what SE are doing with this latest incarnation, the character design came across as modern/realistic yet emo-ish (i.e. Snow Villiers) at the same time; I couldn't take it seriously. I'm hoping I just picked up a bad jive.

The sub version is out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I9v7EsA-wU

As for the theme music, Nobuo Uematsu did not write any music for Final Fantasy XIII - he was meant to compose the theme until he was delegated to write the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack. Instead Masashi Hamauzu is composing the entire score. Source: http://www.squareenixmusic.com/musicnews2.php?subaction=showfull&id=1252948500&archive=&start_from=&ucat=2&

Leaked scan of case art

http://www.destructoid.com/elephant/photo-m.phtml?post_key=156296

Also found this info from the same site. I am not sure how true is this.
Quote:
Ah, mandatory installations. They're a necessary evil most PS3 users have gotten used to, and all too common in many unoptimized multiplatform titles.

While a relatively minor gripe, it's always nice to see a game whose developers have gone the extra mile to make everything work smoothly, and that seems to be the case for Final Fantasy XIII's PS3 incarnation.

At least, if a supposedly leaked scan of the game's case art is confirmed. The game will have no mandatory (or optional) hard drive installation, and even its save data will take up a piddling 500kb (with 1.9mb extra for Trophy data).

Better still, the game will support loss-less 5.1-channel audio, and its gorgeous FMV cutscenes will be rendered at up to 1080p. Mmmm, juicy HD.

Nothing's been said so far about the Xbox 360 version, seeing as Final Fantasy XIII is still a PS3-exclusive in Japan. Perhaps more information will be available as Square Enix's international marketing engines rev up.

A question comes to mind though, for you dual/console 360/PS3 owners: were FFXIII PS3 to offer these features, and the 360 version not (perhaps due to some Blu-ray snafu), would it influence your choice?

I'm actually kinda excited for this game now, especially since it's being released in my birthday month next year! Hopefully it's not a big a let down as XII was.

XII was good. It had one of the most advance battling system up to date and FFXIII might follow the lead with few tweaks. I am not sure if it has gambit system in it, but it was pretty cool to program each character for the every specific battle

Yeah I didn't mind the gameplay mechanics, the story line just didn't cut it for me.

Some random fact about FF

Quote:
There are certain things a Final Fantasy title should always have: chocobos, moogles, and Cid.

Now, Cid can take just about any form - he's certainly not always the same character - but there absolutely must be someone named "Cid" in every Final Fantasy installment. It's just a rule. And thankfully, it seems Square-Enix will continue that tradition as we get our first glimpse of Cid Raines, who was revealed in the latest edition of Jump Magazine. He won't be playable but then again, Cid isn't typically playable, anyway. He's a Brigadier in some mystery military group (a group that isn't PSICOM, which we already know about), and if you want to see the scan itself, jump through the previous link. I was kind of hoping Cid would be playable this time around but leave it up to Square-Enix to keep long-standing - albeit mostly useless - traditions alive. All we need now is to have chocobo races and moogle vendors, and we'll be all set.

This is apparently the box art for Europe: http://www.electronictheatre.co.uk/index.php/industry-news/3610-final-fantasy-xiii-european-box-art-revealed

As generally speaking, we have the same box art as Europe, it's safe to say that this is the version of box art we're getting. Personally I much prefer the logo on while background though, like the one the Japanese are getting.

mmm... not a fan of the box art. Throwing a character render on the box art with the logo looks lazy. Funny though when its just the logo it looks classy.

Yeah that boxart almost looks photoshopped to me.

XII was by far and away my favourite, true the story would have been better if there were more of it (which supposedly there was originally) and if they kept Basch as the protaganist as they were going to at the start but it was still an amazing experience.
The art style makes me think they are trying to get the 7 & 10 crowd back and I'm a little disappointed that the battle shatter screen (before a fight) is returning icon_sad.gif
Still I maintain the belief it will be awesome (with all the resources Square has put into it they need it to be)

Edit: Didn't mean to suggest it was shopped for the site I just meant that the art itself doesn't look high quality.

The link I posted above is pretty much the confirmed as the PAL cover one
On another note, the North American version is the same: http://www.finalfantasyunion.com/news/final-fantasy-xiii-north-american-box-art-revealed--739.html

I don't see why the PAL version is same as the NTSC version when we have always had the same cover as the Japan version for the Final Fantasy series, well at least for the main numbered games. Hope it comes with an alternative/reversible slip cover with the minimalistic logo cover we had for years. Or perhaps a collector's edition with the logo cover.

This box art looks absolutely ghastly. That cover honestly looks like something a photoshop newbie did. I hope both the PAL and NTSC versions get changed to match the far superior Japanese cover. If they won't do that, at least add something to the background to give it some more color.
