I thought I'd post this for anyone who has run into the problem that I did...
Basically, if you got the EB Games pre-order and / or bonus items, and you enter all the codes before actually downloading any of the items, you break your game. Yep. What you NEED to do is enter one code, download the item, enter the next code, download the next item, and so on. If you enter all the codes and THEN download one of them, all the items are marked as downloaded.
Subsequently, if you load your save the items are added to your inventory, even the ones that were falsely marked as downloaded. If you then SAVE the game, you will from that point on only be able to load that save file while connected to XBOX Live. Attempting to load it while offline will result in a message "Missing DLC, please add the following items, <whatever items were falsely marked downloaded here>"
Problem is, the game doesn't have a re-download option. So what to do you do?
* Make a note of which items it's asking for, then quit the game.
* Go to the Xbox memory settings, game memory, dragon age, and delete PROMO PACK 1
* Go back into the games DLC menu and notice all the bonus items (excluding Blood Dragon Armor and Shale) are marked as purchased but not downloaded.
* Download one of the items you made a note of. If you only had one item in the error, skip the remaining steps.
* If you had more than one item in the error, go back to the memory settings and delete PROMO PACK 1 again, then return to the game and download the next item.
* Repeat this process until you have downloaded the last item in the error, then do NOT delete Promo Pack 1.
Now the problem is fixed. You can play offline
The reason for this seems to be that all four items are included in one file, PROMO PACK 1, so if you enter all the codes at once and then go download it gets confused and thinks you have them all. Technically you do have them, but what you don't have is a license to use them. You have to download each item one by one to get its license.
Anyway, just thought that'd be helpful because I totally freaked yesterday when my game told me it wouldn't load my 10 hour save. _________________

social.bioware.com i think... but you should be able to make your account IN the game too because thats what I did. When signed up / logged in you go Downloadable Content and push a button to enter the codes. _________________

Well I beat this tonight. Let me say it has the longest credit sequence of any video game I have ever seen. And the biggest cast list.
The ending was not quite as epic as all the leadup implied it would be but the game is not lying when it says your actions throughout the game matter - they all come back to bite you in the arse. My party literally fell apart at the end, and you're presented with some very tough choices, ones that left me staring at the dialogue options for several minutes at a time. Your words have real weight toward the end.
The last boss is not hard but chaotic. My advice is to stock up on as many health potions as you can carry. I lost track of my party for a minute and they were wiped out. So there I was all alone, running out of health potions... but after a slightly demented 20 minute battle by myself I actually won.
BE WARNED: Save your game before you head off to quest 'The Final Battle' because while you can play post game ALL ACTIVE OR NOT YET FOUND QUESTS ARE MARKED AS FAILED. You can *only* do DLC after the game. _________________

Hey, I'm playing this game on PC atm and loving it. Im just about to get orzimarr to join up the army as well right before the landsmeet.
How far would you say I'm in the story line? 1/2 Way, 3/4? 1/4? (1/4 would be awesome and really bring into perspective the size of this game to me haha). _________________ xfire = andylulz

Yer you have to sign up to bioware or ea i think to use the DLC. This seems like a long game. Put a lot of hours into it and still haven't beaten it. Might be due to the fact that I felt I had to restart twenty hours in as I think I was gimped. Now I'm playing the game right and almost got up to the end game. Just finishing the last of the treaty missions. Good game so far but I feel it's going to go down to the ending whether or not it's just good or great.

The bulk of this game is sidequests, like Oblivion, so if you want the game to last you should do plenty of those before the end >.> _________________

Yay there's a dedicated thread. I thought I'd pop in to say that despite initially hating the game, I've lost 20 hours to this sucker in the last two days. Awesome. Add me on BioWare Social, my handle is Passa91.
Anyway, I'm up to Redcliffe and the castle drama:

Oh yeah and I'm trying to make a 'good/nice guy' character. A nice guy that hooks up with Morrigan. Riight.. I have to keep temporarily removing her from my party before making some decisions because she keeps doing this:

^lolololol.
So true, same with god damn sten. I'm almost finished the game, and at round about the end of the 1st ally I think, I kicked out morrigan because one offensive mage in the party was enough for me (I rolled human mage) plus shes an arrogant bitch who wants kill and destroy everything and ravage this world. However, once you get on her good side, she shows her soft side and its kinda cute haha. And in reply to your spolier question Passa, yes. An item in that place will also help Morrigan to get her on your good side. Somehow I got Alastair and Morrigan and Leliana to 50+ approval (Morrigan I got to 100 so she's all lovey dovey) by showering with them gifts or doing their side quests. Zevrain is just a horny bastard so you will easily get him to 80 or 100 if you decide to go down that route, alas, it must be done for the greater good .
Now that I'm almost finished I am eager to try out some melee class now, I'm gonna go either Human noble or peasant rogue, just wanna try out all the starting stories and I might be really evil this time around. _________________ xfire = andylulz

My god this game is such a time sink. I recently became unemployed, and have been playing this game pretty much all day and night. I'm attempting to do all side quests, visit everywhere, before I finish the main story.
I <3 Morrigan, she's so adorable. I'm thinking about becoming the 2nd person in the world to marry a video game character. Just putting it out there.

I saw someone married Morrigan in real life on GameFAQs? Was that you?
In all seriousness, I'm near the very end and I am having such a dilemma with a certain scenario that involves a certain proposition. I am literally stumped.
This game does a good job at doing that. _________________

Why is this taking forever. I'm doing the Paragon quest in the tunnels and it is taking forever. My last two play sessions have been in the tunnels. With the fact that you heal after every battle it's not like attritions going to kill me, just let me go fight the last boss so I can get out of here.

Infinite Experience Glitch from MyCheats website
In Ostagar, during the "Tainted Blood" mission; collect the 3 Vials of Darkspawn Blood, but not the Grey Warden Treaties. Return to camp, talk to Duncan, and report "We have the blood, but not the scrolls." You will exit out of the conversation, but still get the experience for the mission. You can repeat this as many times as desired. It does not take long to reach the level 25 cap if you skip the conversations to speed up the process.
Can anyone get this to work? I tried it on my PS3 ytd night but it did not work. I got my experience level the 1st time but the darkspawn blood disappeared in my inventory. DUNCAN took it!!!
I run throught the Wilds again but did not manage to find any more blood even after killing all the darkspawn there. So is this glitch only on the PC?
If anyone managed to get this glitch working, please advise here on this thread. What plat and What character? FYI i was using an elf mage.

Easier to complete the Nature of the Beast quest 1st. Winterfang or the Daglish elves are easier foes compared to the 2 tough end bosses in the Paragon Quest.

BioWare has released details on the January 5 launch of DLC for Dragon Age: Origins dubbed 'Return to Ostagar'.
The Return to Ostagar downloadable content will be released on January 5 in North America and Europe for 360 and PC for 400 BioWare Points or Microsoft Points. The DLC will be available for PS3 "later in January".
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=230558?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-News-RSS]
Return to Ostagar gives you the chance to "embark on a quest for the mighty arms and armor of the once great King Cailan when they revisit Ostagar, the site of the Grey Wardens' darkest hour, to reclaim the honor and learn the secrets of Ferelden's fallen king." If that means anything to anyone, tell us about it in the comments below.
"We are thrilled at the way the fans have embraced Dragon Age: Origins and we're excited to welcome them back into the game," said Aaryn Flynn, top guy at BioWare Edmonton. "Return to Ostagar represents BioWare's commitment to providing a steady stream of compelling post release content as we continue to expand the Dragon Age universe."

Finally had the time to sink in on this game. Fantastic stuff as usual, dark fantasy hits it off with me all the time. Morrigan is indeed awesome, have her at 100 approval about now. Rolled a Warrior but damn it can be difficult.
Not sure if it'll beat Witcher as favourite RPG, but it definitely brings back good memories from the Baldurs Gate days. Love the art style <3 _________________

So I bought this on an impulse buy the other night when it went on sale and yes, I started today's dragon age session at 7, and sat there till I died in an ambush. I looked at the time and it was ***** 4pm.
Anyway so I'm up to:

I'm guessing I should go finish this part of the story first before I find the dwarves to join me? Or is it once I get the other guys on board, it goes endgame? _________________

Return to Ostagar add-on available today for $5 on Microsoft's console, desktop, PS3 edition due "soon."
SPOILER WARNING - Return to Ostagar sees players adventuring back to one of the integral early battles in Dragon Age, where King Cailan and Grey Warden mentor Duncan and are massacred after being treacherously betrayed. Now a darkspawn hub, Ostagar contains the armaments of Ferelden's fallen ruler, which players can procure, as well as additional backstory.

Dragon Age Awakening Velanna character video
Humans took the Dalish elves’ lands, burned their cities to the ground, and forced their people to live as slaves. The Dalish have forgotten their language, culture, and history--all because of the humans. Now, they roam the land in ragged bands, holding onto the fragments of their past. Is it any wonder that hatred for humans runs deep in Velanna’s heart? Raised as a first to her clan’s keeper, Velanna knows how much has been lost, and her pride demands that her people lose no more. She is nature’s hand, an instrument of vengeance, and she will never submit. Creators help those who get in her way.
