Yes, fantastic.
Streaming Live TV via WiFi to PSP (Remote Play) is very cool in my opinion! _________________ A very happy Mac user. my blog: AntBlog701

Picked this up today and very disappointed so far.
Firstly, it does not pick up SBS HD. This may be a problem with SBS HD, but if it's not, then what the hell Sony?
Secondly, the time is wrong. It does not even seem to match ANY timezone in Australia. Kind of a problem when setting it to record. So far, I can't find any way of manually setting the time.
Apart from that, I'm finding it very user friendly, but unless I find a solution to the time problem, then this is officially a useless piece of crap.
Considering that 50GB of my HDD is already taken up with just 5 games (what the hell is with that, anyway?) Play TV is not really the best solution for me. Looks like it is going to work out better to just buy a separate DVR than to use this, especially if I can't work out the time issue.
Has anybody had similar issues? I'm going to play around with it a bit more, surely it can be set to the correct time somehow... hopefully the issues are with me, as I was really looking forward to using this.
EDIT: This is one of those times where I wish I could neg myself, stupid impatient bastard that I am. See below if you want to know what I'm talking about.

^ SBS HD working fine for me. Did you set your region settings up correctly? I know if you chose "other", then you won't be able to get SBS.
Also, if the time is wrong, try checking your time/date settings in the PS3's settings (PlayTV uses the PS3's time). There was a warning message about this when you first setup PlayTV. _________________

Yeah, I figured out that you need the PS3 to be on daylight savings time, or the Play TV time is out by an hour. Doh! Otherwise, my time was set correctly, the Play TV software removed an hour because of the daylight saving setting being incorrect.
Also, I did select 'other' for the region... I'll have another go.
Thanks.
UPDATE: Okay, for some weird reason, when you set the region, it starts on the UK and you have to scroll BACK (to the left) to find Australia instead of FORWARDS (to the right). It is just me, or wouldn't you expect it to start at the beginning of the list?
Okay, now that the region and time are correct... this is not bad at all. HDD size issues aside, I'm finding it very easy to use. Don't let anybody tell you that a Bluray remote is essential, as I am finding the Dual Shock is an excellent way to control Play TV. May present issues for a non-gamer, but who cares about them?

Just wondering for those who have it set up:
How does play TV connect to the PS3 and TV? Areal to PlayTV to PS3(via usb?) to TV (via HDMI?)
Just want to know if I need now an areal splitter for the TV and PS3...
And are the FTA recordings PS3 playable only and restricted to only the PS3? Can I transfer recordings to another media player like PC?
thanks!

Aerial connects to Play TV.
Play TV connects to PS3 via USB.
PS3 connects to TV via HDMI, component cable or whatever.

secondly, Has anyone with a decent TV noticed and increase or decrease to picture quality and sound compared to their TV's normal tuner? _________________ Worst. Signature. Ever.

^ I have a late model Bravia LCD, and yeah, I think the picture quality is a little better using the TV's tuner. But the speed of changing channels is heaps better via the PlayTV, and (obviously) you can record shows too, so it's a pretty good trade off. _________________

I like having the ability to record a show then start watching it from the beginning whilst its still recording the end.
Also rewinding live TV is pretty sweet. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

My Play TV did a really weird thing last night. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it was pretty annoying.
I set it to record Curb You Enthusiasm and then Weeds. No problem with Curb, but it sliced up Weeds into tiny increments, starting at about 30 seconds and decreasing in length to about 12 seconds. So it was all there, just sliced up into little bite size pieces and massive pain in neck to watch. I deleted it in the end, which was also a pain, as I had to delete each individual segment and there were about 50 of them.
Anybody else have this problem?

Target will have playTV for $139 starting this Thurs in the new catalogue. Please, if you're going to buy it, price match it where you can instead of just buying from Target to allow other people to price match it too. _________________

If you goto pricematch at eb and they contact target and their out of stock then maybe they don't have to pricematch. I think pricematching only applies if the shop your pricematching from is within a certain distance. _________________

^Exactly right, if the shop in question is out of stock, then they aren't bound to pricematch, hell even if the other stock has a mountain of it, they usually give a bs excuse they dont have to price match it.
Target/Bigw in particular are well known for throwing out ****** stupid awesome prices to lure customers in when they really only have about 10 units for each state and are sold out before the store even opens up. At least if you price match at another place, instead of getting it directly from Target, other people can continue to price match. _________________

Hmm...mayb caus i'm in regional NSW, but I'm stuck when I want to do the "other region export recording to XMB" hack. It tries to scan for channels but obviously they are on wak freq's here and I don't get anything, there's no way to bypass this is there....anyone know? :S
Other than that the only thing I wish for was dual recording cause Freeview are being bitches about the export thing :S _________________ "A learning experience is one of those things that says 'you know that thing you just did? Don't do that'"

Okay, it did it again, though my previous description of what happened was a little off.
As you can see, it had no problem recording South Park, but it sliced and diced Reno 911 into about 42 segments. From what I can tell, it didn't record the entire program. The duration listed against each segment is not accurate either. For example, the last segment (see below) is supposed to be 8 minutes, but lasts about 30 seconds.
The way I set it to record was from the program guide, by selecting the show and the choosing record. I did not use the timer.
Anyway, this is the second time it has done this in a week. I don't know if this is a problem with Play TV, but I can't see what else could be causing it. Has anybody else had this problem, either with PlayTV or a regular DVR? I've looked on the net, but haven't found anything so far.
Bloody annoying whatever the cause.

might be better using the timer since i've heard that using the tv guide can sometimes cut the start/end at times.
about the problem, the only thing i could think of is that perhaps it trys to not record the adverts which might be aired inbetween but i doubt playtv has that ability and that there would be as many adverts. _________________

Difficult part is the problem isn't consistent, only happened twice and I usually use the program guide. Also, you can set it to continue recording after the program has ended (an extra 10 mins) when setting to record from the guide.
Nah, it's definitely not trying to cut the ads, nice theory, though. Hopefully the update I just applied has fixed it.

they'll never cut out the ads...that's one of the reason "Freeview compliance" made Sony remove the 120x ff function, cause the ads would be skipped to quick...sigh
back to me or actually anyone who is having an issue that looks like buffering...kind of stop start (but not stuttering) it'll play (or be live) for about 5 seconds...then freeze for about 1/2sec then go again...this is the same for live and recorded shows...when you watch live though...it is ok for a while when you first change channel which leads me to think it is buffering...
in game recording is off so it isn't a background delay thing....
oh and it works great in win7! _________________ "A learning experience is one of those things that says 'you know that thing you just did? Don't do that'"

I just bought this with a new 250gb PS3.
Finds channels fine, when I update to the latest version it says Version 2.21 is already installed. To remove this version to update to 2.1 you must remove previous installation to continue.
If I say YES, it creates corrupted data and says QUIT and restart, over and over again. If I say no, it quits out.
WHAT the HELL?
EDIT: OK, anyone experiencing this error. Just quit after the update installs then run play TV from the TV part of the XMB and not the game disc part, in fact, remove the disc. All good. Now for SBS....... NO SBS.
OK I have updated to 2.21. Region is AUS.
I live on the NSW/QLD border so whats the go? It will only either pick up NSW or QLD?? Seems that way. I get QLD easier but that makes everything an hour late.
Anyone know how to make it tune in to TWO states like my normal digital TV receiver? _________________

Sorry if this has been covered before, but, can you turn the volume up/down through your controller/BD remote? or would you still need to use your tv's remote? _________________

Can anybody help me?
I live practically on the border of NSW/QLD. NSW is on EDST and QLD as you know isnt. So I get better reception from QLD but also get NSW on my normal SD Digital TV tuner, I like to be able to have the ability to watch both.
How can I tunee in to TWO states? It only lets me scan channels for one???????
Maybe a future firmware update? _________________

Recorded It's always sunny in philadelphia on 7HD and the lag on it was pathetic.
I seem to be having some laggy problems especially with ch7.
Hopefully they don't fix that "Other" region mini-hack because that is the main reason why I bought it, so I can store stuff on my comp, burn it to discs etc.
