Seems a tough time for Australian developers ATM, i hope that this downsizing although no doubt painful increases Krome's viability.

Um, if they're actively pursuing some opportunities maybe they could wait a couple of months before firing these people and if they fall through, then make the redundancies? I think they forget that being fired and rehired isn't as easy as it sounds, people have "emotions" and things like that too.

I dont think they are dealing with it very well. Have a look at there website. NOw Hiring on the homepage. Maybe they should remove the CEO!
Loved the Ty series, hopefully they survive.

1) That's generally just something companies say when they're in this situation so that stakeholders don't pull out entirely. If they thought there was a high chance the company would pull through, they wouldn't be firing so many people.
2) If they waited a few months, they'd be firing people over Christmas.

@James
Yes, I know companies do say things like this for PR reasons, but he very specifically did mention that there may be opportunities to rehire the same people. So, that's not just looking good to stakeholders but also giving those same employees hope of rehiring, which may dissuade them from looking for other jobs.
I understand why it has to happen but I think that telling those people that they may be rehired in the near future is a bit much.

Pursuing opportunities doesn't equal cash in hand to pay employees. It could be months or years before they pay off, either from sales or publisher funding. _________________

Seems like the pepsi / coke version of game developers is starting to begin.
A real shame as this thwarts the ingenuity and breath of fresh air that the little companies can bring forth in this stale game climate we live in that likes to play it safe and bring to us the 'too the masses' type of game we apparently like to play.
gl guys in your future endeavours. _________________
