I just want party chat and a better trophies system. I don't know how they could improve it, but I prefer the 360's version. Make them automatically sync, and when you compare trophies to a friend make it not take 30 seconds to load up what games they have played etc, for a start, instead of changing how stuff looks.

I'm in the preview program on the 360 so I've had Facebook for a little while now and I got to say, it's not really all it's cracked up to be on a console. If I want to access Facebook, I'll do it from my computer thanks. I just wish instead of wasting there time doing things like this and Home, Sony would actually listen to their customers and implement some features that everyone's been requesting since the PS3 came out.

Nice new features and good to see they're doing something about trying to compete with the 360's online features.

Some kind of msn integration would be cool though.

LOL @ Gamer-Card customisation. That is going to be totally worth the slow update.

I wonder if facebook will be just a tie in allowing you to post things from the PS3 via the webbrowser or a full blow app.

Since the MS in MSN is Microsoft, I don't see that ever happening.

^ Meebo maybe? cuz I think he means chat in general.

Last time I used the PS3 Browser I couldn't get Meebo working, but if its fixed now it'd be sweet to get an integrated XMB version of it, but yeah I'd rather see some other demands met before any of this customisation nonsense.

Who needs facebook on consoles when you can play games on it?

*ahem* Sony, there is a lot of potential in attempting to try and make Playstation Home a much cooler place (like a in-game game festival a few times a year or something?)... So try and do something cool for Home!!!

PlayStation 3 Firmware (v3.10) Update Preview

Hi everyone, here’s an early peek at PlayStation 3 (PS3) firmware update (v3.10). The latest update incorporates Facebook into the PS3 experience. By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity. This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3’s built-in web browser.

This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.

Additional highlights from update 3.10 include:

* The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
* The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.

Hooray for the friends list change. icon_y1.gif

To be honest, facebook integration and changing the colour on gamercards is worth a day-long update...

Please, give it a few months and do something HUGE!

It's still going to take the same amount of time to download, since you have to download the entire thing, not just the additions (which is stupid and makes no sense).

so with this facebook integration, does it dynamically report what game you're playing? or live achievement feeds?

I just unlocked two Trophies in Assassin's Creed 2, and they posted to my Facebook account. Pretty cool.

No idea what people are going on about with a slow update. Mine took like a minute to download.

Pretty cool update but not super useful. I can whore out my trophies to people on facebook at least.

^ We have this every time Ken. You whine about how slow the update is and for pretty much everyone else it's quick as. I think I said this last time...but, you need better internets icon_smile.gif

Everytime these days, the actual install of the firmware takes longer than the download for me.

Also when you sync trophies they will sow up in your fb feed. That also works with games you purchase off PSN.

I really like this update.

They don't call us whinging poms for nothing icon_cool.gif .
I need better internet but my area is a black spot for internet. I'm not in the middle of nowhere, I'm five minutes away from Skilled Park...

I'm downloading it off the computer because it's more consistent. It's got 2 hours and 50 minutes remaining, 12% complete. I feel like I have reason to complain. PALGN and my friends are the only vent for my frustration as my parents consistently tell me that we can't get new internet.
Sorry, I know it's annoying for you lot but it's just so f*cking annoying for me.

The facebook integration sounds good though, I like the idea of trophies been put up on facebook.

It's not that I'm jealous, it's just the injustice of it all...

Took me 10 mins.

The facebook plug in is OK and it's nice to have Trophies come up in FB I guess. This was done on Live a while ago, but M$ removed it because it ended up spamming up your account. I can see similar things happening here.

Certainly different to the 360 update which is a full blown FB app.
