I'd say yes, because I know once you get the PS3, you'll find more games for it. But, I guess it depends on your cirumstances and how much money you get. Having multiple consoles is a real money drain as anyone will tell you because there's always something you want.
I'm hopefully going to pick this up over the weekend if I can find it.

Ok, so I'm about seven hours in & I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's better than ToD. Everything is just better: the platforming, the puzzles, the space sections, the arena battles, the way you upgrade your weapons and ship, the level design & Clank's levels are very, very enjoyable due to a few new game play mechanics. The time manipulation stuff is great. I love the Super Mario Galaxy style planets that you can drop into. They're not particularly challenging - your usual kill this, jump on here, avoid this - but they're a lot of fun.

^ I don't think the limited edition comes out until the 12th so they might have mixed it up. _________________

I wouldn't say they're SMG style levels, considering Ratchet & Clank had them back in 2003 on R&C2: Locked and Loaded
But I agree with everything you said. I'm only about 4-5 hours in, but it's shaping up to be the best R&C adventure yet. Storywise, I don't think it quite competes with Up Your Arsenal, or even Q4B for that matter (I loved the pirate theme). But everything else is put together so well, it's just rewarding and an immense amount of fun. The larger focus on platforming/puzzles is very welcomed, especially Clank's sections. Those clone/recording sections are really cool and well done, not overly strenuous on the brain box, but very satisfying to solve. The only worrying thing about the game is that it seems like it'll be a rather short adventure, at least compared to the first 3 and ToD. I've heard there's only 10 proper planets (most R&C games have 20), but I suppose the large number of the small planetoids (I think there's 35) and side-missions will make up for it. _________________

Ah, I haven't played that one! I really must get around to buying the PS2 ones.
I'm not sure how many sectors there are in the game; I just unlocked the fourth sector and it feels like the story is in the latter stages, but I can't be certain. I think the length is in the form of acquiring all the weapons upgrades, Zoni, Gold bolts, Skill points and what have you.
If there's one minor complaint I have about the game it's the voice of Doctor Nefarious. So annoying heh.

Is the voice of Dr. Nefarious the same one from Ratchet and Clank 3? _________________

I just checked at YT video, and yep. I like the character, just not the voice. It's irritating.

^ saw it in the Sydney galleries Victoria jbhifi but I gotta say, unlike uncharteds Metal case, you get a shitty lenticular cover? Not worth $10. For that money you can buy some dlc later. _________________

Bought this. Played til the 2nd stage. Game has the same problem as resistance2 for me which is pixellated weaponry / clouds (enemies dying = pixellated mess) and I find it very off putting. This after an amazing visual experience that was uncharted 2 is kind of ... Hmmmm mehish.
52inch LCD tv here. _________________

You do realize that they are completely different graphics engines right?
R&C is cartoony, while Uncharted has a realistic graphics engine, so of course they are going to look different. _________________

If those are the types of things that concern you when playing a Ratchet and Clank game, then I really think you're playing the wrong kind of game. _________________

Linky to prevent page stretching
took some pics and posted on neogaf. I can't continue with the game. I'm not talking about differing graphic/art styles. There looks like what appears to be 8bitish pixellation in the game (pretty much confirmed that it's the game). It's how insomniac compromised the graphics to keep framerate high but it looks really bad to me. A next gen title with what looks like glitches... Constantly... I give up.
I have Tod and qfb and this problem isn't there. Got introduced in resistance2 and much much worse here.
^above example shows it best. Menu select hexagon is perfectly smooth and normal. But the games explosive effects/cloud is pixellated. Mr zurkons radial antennae signal is also pixellated looking. There are a lot more pics in that photobucket account

Wow, you are seriously going to stop playing a game because of that? I'm someone who notices little things like this in games, but I'm not just going to stop playing a game because of it, it's only graphics. A game is still fun without great graphics.
And Insomniac said that they aren't going to focus on 60 fps anymore, so this shouldn't be in their next games.

Wow, I didn't see it like that before, I'm taking it back tomorrow and I'm going to go through the rest of my games and see if there's anything else I shouldn't like for similar reasons, so what if the game's fun. This is just unacceptable.
I reckon if you contact Insomniac about this issue they'd either give you a refund for such a travesty or supply you with your own personal patch to alleviate you of this problem.
There's always group therapy if you can't sort it out.
As a last resort, there's always Jesus.
Hope it all works out for you. _________________

Not playing a game because you find the graphics subpar is pretty shallow and pathetic. Just sayin'...
Or does the issue have that much of an effect on the game play that you simply cannot tolerate it?
I finished the game and personally didn't notice the problem you described, but I'm not one of those people who notices the finer details - for this very reason. I'm a gamer who likes to play games, not a tech head who wants everything to look and sound perfect.

Well the pixellation isn't subtle at all. It's quite glaring and distracting. My tv is 52 inch and i sit about 2m back an it's still very apparent. So distracting that it really put me off the game. Everytime something exploded (which is all the time) it looks really ugly - note everything else is perfect looking (ratchets hair/geometry) - it's only the weapon vfx that loooks like they've been pulled out if a 8bit Nes game.
And the pixellation isn't minor. Some of it literally is about 3mmx3mm in dimnsion and that's not in isolation. Nobody will get it til they see it. Moving clouds of pixellation. The teleporting first boss would come back into the arena in a cloud of pixels. Huge graphics issues. _________________

Here's a picture of one of the pixels that I see when I play. It sticks out a fair bit but I haven't found it too distracting yet.
