The price sticker says Playstation Live even though the box clearly says Playstation Network.

Picked up a $30 card at GAME today. Comes in a PS3 Bluray case which I thought was a nice touch.

On the bottom it says "No value until activated on the till", and your copy is still sealed... does that mean they forgot to activate it? or do you work at game and took a pic there..? or are my eyes failing me, and i've just had too much 'study caffene', noticing stuff that isn't there?

Its standard practice for XBL cards etc to not work until they've been bought ie activated on the till. There used to be huge issues with people going into stores and procuring the code in some way.

Pretty much what Flea said. Card is activated when you buy it. Funds were successfully added to my account. I thought there may have been a problem with it being sealed but all was good.

Was at work today & found out that BigW are still stocking these cards, but are issued from the registers now (Like pre-paid mobile phone credit). So, you can purchase these at any register. The associate just go's into the item lookup screen -> other -> games -> playstation & can issue the credit from there... icon_wink.gif

Oooh, that helps both customers and the checkout operators! I had no idea they'd put PSN cards into the item lookup.

Are they phasing out the cases? I kind of liked them because I could get spare cases.

I doubt this is a Sony decision. I know at Coles (I work there) you can get iTunes credit in gift card form, or through the recharge credit lookup which prints your number on the receipt. My assumption here is that big W have changed it to make it easier for there employees, and so that the credit is always available to customers; there doesn't need to be a physical copy in stock anymore. If my assumption is correct, you should still be able to get physical copies from other places that sell PSN credit (EB, JB). Supermarkets do not sell PSN or XBLA credit, though, as far as I'm aware.

When I bought PSN credit from JB, they sold it in voucher/receipt form, so no cases there. Unless it was that particular JB.

I'd say they're switching to receipt form because cards can be quite fallible (my sister has had at least a dozen iTunes cards that when scratched were illegible, and their general stance on that is "suck it"). Having it freshly printed on a receipt is less likely to cause an issue, and if there IS a problem with the number you can see it immediately before leaving the counter.
