Or rather, adding in a waiting time for pirates.

Good thing I was never _that_ into CoD. Some good games, but still not the end of the world. I'll be getting on console anyway for the splitscreen.

icon_sad.gif Just WOW! If this is for anti-piracy issues I am a little ticked off. There is no way I will buy a COD game on anything other than PC. I bet the torrents have it before the 24th now anyway and this will just assist piracy.

Hrm, haven't seen this news on any of my other RSS feeds yet, and it's been since last night.

Hoping ElectronicTheatre are just playing a cruel prank...

..I suppose this gives me more time for tekken 6..the original plan was buy tekken, play for the 5-6 days till cod was supposed to come out, then just play cod non stop for X amount of weeks after that..

It had better not be anti-piracy measures. Considering the original's run-time measures consisted of a simple disc check for single player and no disc needed for multiplayer.

Uhhh suck my **** Activision. Obviously this is to subdue initial piracy in the two weeks after release, though considering MW2 will be bought en-masse simply for the multiplayer, I don't see how this is necessary.

Words cannot describe how pissed off I am right now. I'd say I'd pirate it instead (since I was going to have to buy two copies on PC) but that'd be a lie because I want the multiplayer. Gah. Fuck you Activision, fuck you.

EDIT: And now my brother wants to get it on 360 instead. Fuck you too brother.

It's clear and simple. They want people to buy the console versions because they know as soon as it is released on PC it will be pirated.

I play COD4 multiplayer on PC (cuz mouse and keyboard is the best way to go) so this is somewhat disappointing.

The biggest irony is that most of these outsourced piracy companies take a few weeks to put their malware (yes, that's exactly what it is) onto the application. In the mean time it gives more time for pirates to get their hands on an internal copy and then more time to distribute it online.

Meanwhile Stupid.Co publisher waits for SecurROM or whoever to return the product with the appropriate 'anti-piracy' malware implemented. If they'd put in a simpler level of piracy protection (developed internally) and released it, the window for pirates to get their internal copy leaked becomes significantly smaller.

Now I'm not suggesting that in this instance that this is the case, but it has been known to happen, even to very prominent titles and thus worsens the initial sales of that title.
It is utterly bewildering to me why these companies think SecurROM and the other anti-piracy malware developers will be able to protect their product. I can suggest a number of ways to get a hold of the code that breaks these measures. Now I don't condone this activity, though the measures that Stupid.Co and other big developers/publishers put in place serve more as a detriment to the industry rather that support it.

There's still little evidence to support this rumour, I still hope it's just Electronic Theatre making up a story to generate traffic.

All major retailers still have the PC version listed for November 10, Kotaku are awaiting a response from the game's representatives regarding the situation.

Hope is not lost... yet.

While this sucks, this is the second game to be delayed (Vesperia being the first) to just after my exam period. Convenient. >.>

Well I for one am not waiting 2 weeks as its pretty obvious that they are just delaying it as they think that it will detract pirates and that people will buy the console versions. Well because of this I am now going to pirate the game on the day it was suppose to come out (I reckon someone would of leaked it by then) and play that until they release it in the shops and buy it then. I refuse to be treated second rate!

Update

IW themselves are kinda confused about this whole release date business, so it's still up in the air. I'll keep this up to date if I get more info.
