So the US release is almost upon us. Its confirmed that the servers are not cross-compatible. I would be VERY surprised if an Australian server is opened when (if) its released here - so the question (from lag point mainly) is which is the best version to get as all have english translations?
Asian (Hong Kong/Singapore)
Asian (Korean)
US
or wait for a PAL release next year............. _________________

I pre-ordered the US special edition. I figured that a) I'll much rather have full english packaging, b) have the special edition (with guides that are meant to be highly recommended), and c) start on a launching server/baseline (the asian servers are already highly skilled).

I'm playing a friend's Chinese version now but have pre-ordered the US version because I'm interested in the PVP game and it'll have the character exploits removed from the outset.
In the Asian version, you can de-patch the game and use an exploit to gain the upper hand in PVP. I figure all servers will be somewhat laggy but an uneven PVP playing field will be more of a fun-killer for me ultimately.

Western version has an optimised translation and fixes various bugs & glitches at least we've been told so far. _________________

Since I'm in the US, I'll be getting that version. If anyone here is getting the US version over any of the others, It would be great to play with fellow palgn members. _________________

there's a review up at eurogamer, and the folks at gamecritics had some pretty good things to say about it as well
looks like demon's souls is the one to look out for. _________________ DON'T SURRENDER

My Asian version (English voice/text) was shipped out on Thursday via Registered Airmail, so I should have it by mid/late next week. It was hard to find somewhere with it in stock, it seems the game is still in high demand as stores seem to be sold out within hours of getting stock. I ended up going with Renchi.com. $83AUD incl. free registered airmail shipping.
Can't wait to play. From Software have consistently denied the possibility of a PAL release but I think it's inevitable TBH. In all honesty I would probably go with the U.S version, but there's nothing wrong with the Asian (Korean/Chinese) release. Just don't touch the Japanese version as it has Japanese text only (menu's etc).

If it does get a PAL release it won't be from Atlus. Atlus don't publish in PAL regions and their games are picked up by other publishers in the PAL region ala SquareEnix with Persona 4. _________________

My Deluxe version from VG+ has shipped, while my copy from Play-Asia has had no movement on it at all. Hopefully that ships soon, but Play-Asia have been pretty unreliable of late. _________________

I can't see a standard edition for the US version, is the deluxe edition worth the extra coin? Never really used strategy guide before, does this game really need one? _________________

I went with the Deluxe edition. Every review I've read so far has said that it is brutally difficult, so I thought I'd play it safe (it's only marginally more expensive).
EDIT:
Just out of curiosity, because I haven't imported any games that I play online yet...will we need a US PSN account to play this, or will it work signed in to our Aussie accounts? I have both types, but I thought it best to get the answer out there for others looking to import. _________________

Considering the difficulty level of the game, I think it would be quite helpful. I got my US copy today and I'll probably start up during the weekend. _________________

At least now they have a release date listed; apparently it's October 9th.
So if all goes well we should be getting our paws on this next week some time! _________________
