Yeah thats correct. For the First 10 days of PSPgo launch you get it free.

I like DSmiths deal because it cheapest so far.

Well you're going to be waiting for a very, very long time.

Anyone want to take a guess at the second retailer to refuse to stock the Go? If you guessed EB then you would be correct.

Kotaku wrote:
One Dutch retailer refusing to stock the PSPgo is an isolated incident. But when the Aussie branch of EB Games says "no, thanks" as well, you've got a trend on your hands.

Kotaku Australia's David Wildgoose rung around in Sydney this morning and found that not a single EB Games he contacted would be stocking the game. I rang around in Canberra and Melbourne and found the same thing: despite a release date of next week, the console appears in EB's system only as "discontinued", and is not listed as an upcoming release.

Most employees were either coyly evasive or genuinely uninformed of the move, but a few revealed that the decision has been made at management due to a combination of the console's high price-point combined with the fact the retailer won't be recouping any money from software sales.

Neither EB Games nor Sony would specifically address the issue, but it's clear from speaking with staff (and from the absence of any mention of the PSPgo on EB's website) that Australia's largest specialist games retailer won't be stocking the handheld.

Can't remember the last time a console met with this much retail animosity before it was even out.

I knew it would happen. There's no incentive beyond the initial sale to any retailer. Sucks to be Sony right now.

I mean, you just have to hunt around for PSP games now to see that the format isn't as supported as other platforms. It'll be worse with the introduction of the Go.

i doubt it will happen, but lets hope the new pspGO won't be a runaway success and EB do an embarrassing back flip like Harvey Norman did with the Wii

Quick question, can the PSP(go) wirelessly communicate with the PS3 in order to use stuff like the PS store, internet etc.?

Nope. That's the job of a router, just like any PSP.

Need to use the PSP 1, 2 or 3k's peripherals on a Go?

You use this! icon_lol.gif

Looks like there is enough cable for the Go to still open.

Sony have FINALLY announced their 'problem-solving' system for previous PSP owners and their UMD collection.

Sauce

It's called 'PSP Go Rewards' and entitles 3 full game downloads;
Quote:

1. Unwrap your shiny new PSPgo and start it up
2. Connect to PlayStation®Network and activate your new or existing PlayStation Network account for PSPgo Rewards
3. Start up your current PSP and connect to PlayStation Network
4. Login using the same PlayStation Network account , and launch PlayStation®Store
5. Pop one of your UMDs into the drive of your current PSP and register on PSPgo Rewards when prompted
6. Download a PSPgo theme
7. Wait for your email voucher for your three free games
8. Choose, download and enjoy!

For people like me with only 5-6 actual UMD's this system is ok. But for people with lots of games... this is unbelievably terrible..

And to make things worse... The only avaliable titles are;

Quote:
Killzone Liberation
Medievil
Wipeout Pure
Buzz Brain Bender
Buzz Master Quiz
SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Everybody’s Golf
Resistance: Retribution
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Lemmings
LocoRoco
Patapon
Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow
Echochrome
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
Daxter

All games I don't actually have on UMD.

Cosidering Sony just dropped the price of the PSP 3000 in Japan, and possibly soon to be everywhere else, and that you will now NEVER be able to transfer UMD games to it and that it has a cramped interface and smaller screen AND that it costs as much as the PS3 slim in most stores AND that you can never buy games on sale or price match AND that you can't trade those games in or buy second hand ones...

WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY IT!?!

Just get a 3000 and, if you desire games running without UMDs, a really big memory card and CFW.

PSP 3000. It's the only RATIONAL choice.

I think you can access your PS3 via your PSP over a wifi hot spot(?) Plus you can access the PS store directly from your Go.

Apparently you can also use your Dual Shock controller with the PSP.

And just a heads up for those, like me, who know nothing about routers and stuff, you can pick up a USB wifi thingy like this, Thrustmaster WIFI USB Key, for what ever price, not sure if there are new models out, that model is from 2006, and use your PSP over your PC internet connection, just like a hot spot.

Considering there is a PSP3000 bundle with a Free copy of Gran Turismo for $288 one cant really justify the 'but i get Gt for free' validation for buying the GO! console.

Sigh...

I'm still considering buying one from America, where it's $311 including postage to get here. I have a PSP 1000 and don't actually own any games for it anymore, so I can't say I'm losing any games over 'upgrading'. Plus it really needs a new case and buttons (but that's only $20 DIY with DealExtreme).
I don't play it at all because it doesn't fit in my pocket, and at home I play with the major consoles instead of handhelds.

As for games prices, I'm happy with the prices on the US Store (though I agree that the PAL stores prices suck). And I don't buy that many games anyway

Deciding factor will be how it feels to hold. If it sucks, I'll just repair my 1000 and be happy I can still play all games with it.
Or maybe I'll use both, carry PSP GO with me and keep my old PSP for UMD Exclusives and bargain games?

The End.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you nkbswe5. And the fact that I'm going to be in the US next week is really swinging my vote on picking one up cheap while I'm there.

I'm still undecided but I guess whats stopping me from keeping my old one as well and enjoying both..

from http://tgs.gamespot.com/story/6230410/no-umd-conversion-for-psp-go

Existing PSP owners hoping to pick up a PSP Go and transfer their existing UMD games to the handheld are going to be out of luck--Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Sony Computer Entertainment America have confirmed that there will be no way to transfer existing UMD purchases to the new download-only PSP Go.

More bad news for the Go

This article has already been posted in the articles thread and I'll say the same thing that I said there. If you actually read the full article you'll notice that Sony did NOT cancel the UMD conversion program. They said it will not be available at launch due to legal troubles.
