I'm sure you've all heard by now about internet censorship in Australia. Well a protest group known as "anonymous" has apparently hacked the prime ministers site and posted the above video on youtube.
Their demands are shown on the information tab on the video.

Just thought it be interesting to see people's thoughts on this. Is this the way to go if we are to stop the censorship law? Or is it just a bunch of kids with too much spare time?

Yeah, this is a fantastic way to get the government on side, illegally hack into their website. Kudos to them, now we're going to get a couple of spiels about Internet hooligans on Today Tonight/A Current Affair and the public will practically be begging for censorship.

Some people really fail at negotiation.

They didn't hack the website, just a DoS attack that put it out of commission for a very short time.

Anonymous are dickheads. It might help their cause better if they made videos that did not look like they had been produced by a 12 year old media studies student.

Plus they use very poor grammar.

Way to get your point across losers.

The hearts in the right place and even the execution is in regards to the medium used, the problem however is that anonymous is generally regarded as the scum and filth of the represented populace so you are never going to get your point across since it will immediately be twisted beyond recognition simply due to association. Then of course you have Sin's statement (and that of common sense) of trying to take a moral high point on the issue while engaging in illegal activity simultaneously, further blurring the line on how credible you seem as a person or organisation.

The concept of anonymous is fine, since the internet has been given status in the Australian government and has little to no backing on behalf of a public voice. We are constantly without even knowing it sometimes classing individuals into "political parties" in regards to who they belong to as opposed to who they are and politicians have pinch hitted to cater for them (ala "gamblers" "pensioners" "gamers" or even "democrat" "liberal" "socialist") that a representative group of the internet (on behalf of the home populace in said issues) is not entirely without validity.

It is just being executed extremely poorly and is rather self defeating in its current form.
