I've never had a customer say 'Hmm i'd like a PS3 but its a bit fat for my liking, so i think i will pass.'
All this talk of 'slim' is over-rated in my opinion. Deliver new/updated features or a price drop. _________________ Kill each other nicely please.

But people did complain about the original Xbox was a bit big... The Playstation 3 is even bigger and heavier.

That whole $499 slimmer 120gb model if true has definitely reached M$ ears, since it is rumored that they are dropping they pro model and reducing the price of the Elite to the pro and keeping the arcade and dropping that in price as well.
Also take into account that the the PS3 Slim was trademarked back in July and apparent rumor of their production was started in April also the Amazon sight in Germany had a listing for it briefly but took it down, but most of this has all been rumored. I would be an amazing feat on Sony behalf if they managed to keep it tight lipped up until when they want to, It would be quite the opposite to the announcement of the PSP Go since that was leaked a couple of days before hand.
Also this shortage... Is number 1... great timing and number 2... creating demand something that they PS3 has never had in its entire life cycle so it will be interesting to see what happens in anything in September.

This is true - but hey it all looks the same in my entertainment unit
Not denying this is a good thing but its hardly "HUGE" and certainly the price drop aspect of it will certainly attract new buyers over the slim factor _________________ Kill each other nicely please.

Meh, if they go the slim route..... they better not do the top open interface ala the slim ps2. I much prefer the eject out tray mechanism from the brick ps2 (that still works today - my dad uses it constantly these days) and the system the current ps3 uses.

Once you play any decent PS3 games you will never go back to the PS2 one's. |
Not in my experience:
Hours playing PS2 games on PS3: 400+
Hours playing PS3 games on PS3: ~200
|
Its kinda funny, i can count on one hand the amount of times that i've connected my ps2 since owning an xbox 360 (November '07) and then a ps3 in June '08. In saying that i can also count on one hand the amount of times that i've used my ps3 over the last 8 months for gaming..... even as a blu-ray machine it hasn't had much action (almost like a pimple faced virgin )
