Is it just me, or are we all sceptical that this will work properly?

"Direct port" of a graphically powerful PC/360/PS3 level game, by Treyarch, no less... doesn't sound feasible on the Wii.

Hopefully I'll be proven wrong, but... doubtful...

The graphics in COD4 really aren't that good, have you seen how bad the textures are? But will the Wii version run at 60 fps as well I wonder.

The PS3 version wasnt even at 720 native resolution so the downgrade in graphics wont be too much of an issue I reckon.

But what i think is always the controls. The controls were tight and such and I don't think the experience will be as good on the Wii. SO if they can get it good, then I hope it gets ported well.

I'm sorry but I disagree. The graphics and engine in COD4 were incredible (and world at war). Too this day it still blows a lot of FPS games out of the water.

Then shouldn't call it 'Modern' warfare on the Wii. They should call it 'Compromised' warfare.

If they take notes from The Conduit, the controls will put dual-stick controls to utter shame and perhaps be as good as mouse controls. The real question isn't "can they do this", it's "why did it take them so damn long to do it?"

Only in perhaps the graphics deparment - if the controls are anything like The Conduit, there's one area the Wii version will be nigh-superior in comparison to the other console versions. Graphics aren't everything, d00d.

Grass? Did you play the sniper level? Or did you play this on a choppy PC? On a whole the game runs incredibly well and is a total visual and audio expereince. I don't care how wonderful the Wii controls might be, it will not be the same game running on MUCH inferior hardware.

COD4 2 big points -

1) Visuals and Audio.
2) Online component.

The Wii can't emulate those two points.

Sure, graphics aren't everything. I'm sure it will end up a nice port but would anybody that owned COD4 on PC,PS3,360 would really be tempted to buy this? It's like comparing a manual transmission luxury car to an automatic bomb. They both let you drive on the road and the automatic is *different* but it doesn't hide the fact it's a piece of shit.

The graphics as a whole look good. The lighting effects are also good. But the textures are horrible and blurry. That's how they get it to run at 60 fps with full AA.

1. COD4 graphics were awesome, grass included.

2. Conduit controls are nothing to write home about. They weren't even as accurate as Red Steel...

Both the 360 version and the PS3 version were sub-HD. They both ran at 600p to be exact, just like Modern Warefare 2 will.

Looks quite fine running at 1920x1080 on my PC. Texture quality might not be Crysis level, but it still looks gorgeous. Maybe this is a console thing?

I think everyone's forgotten that the poly count on character models was less than that for Call of Duty 2. They simply used better art direction and other tricks to get a superior looking game.

No, the real fun here will be getting the physics engine working at a respectable rate on the Wii. Expect it to be gimped somewhat.

IMO, world at war on the wii was a stand-out title. great pointer implementation (best to date? maybe. at least it wasn't drunk-o-gun-vision), -more- than adequate visuals (just a muddier downscaled version of the next gen releases), and it was an all-round quality experience (underrated as the true benchmark for wii shooters).

pound for pound, I'd rather the 360 version - but apples and oranges are like the difference between a pinky and a vibro dong. all have their places.

if the multiplayer holds up, I'll be grabbing this. activision (vicarious visions, in particular) are already spreading rumours of no in-game friend codes for certain titles (like GH5). if everything comes together, this could overcome that major roadblock and help create a strong multiplayer commmunity on the wii, which has been sorely lacking to this point.

zombies with a wii-mote? yes the hell please!

The controls are my only worries with this game, after playing CoD3 on Wii it certainly left me with little hope for the FPS genre using those controls. I have heard The Conduit had excellent controls though, giving me a little more faith that the game will work well.

I agree. I haven't played CoD4 on PC, but I played WaW at 1920x1080, and it looked stunning. I can't imagine there being much difference between the two.

Obviously the consoles get the toned down graphics due to hardware limitations, but on a powerful PC turn the beast up to Max Settings and get ready for one hell of a visual ride.

In all fairness, CoD3 was a launch title, and I still thought Red Steel's controls were better. Since then, titles like Metroid Prime 3, World at War, Medal of Honour and The Conduit have shown us that Wii first person controls can work well. The latter, you can customise all the sensitivities and buttons to get it right for you personally.

After the Conduit not selling I don't see why there doing this. Core games don't sell on the wii unless its made by Nintendo. Plus no multiplayer equals no game as even though the S.P is great without multiplayer I wouldn't buy it

I had heard those games played well. Unfortunately the only FPS I have played on the Wii is CoD3, so I really have no idea how far the genre has come. I am glad to hear that FPS's are working, as I believe the Wii's controls have the potential to make excellent 'guns'. Upon release of the Wii the first thing I thought is how great it would be for FPS games.
