Go the single life. No reason not to play games. Plus I talk more to/at my brother in a L4D game than I do anywhere else at the moment. :P
60 hours a month is pretty nuts though. I would make that time over 2 months easy I guess but I do try to get out of the PC world every now and again.

Why is the research dubious? If you are going to make a claim like that, back it up with a reason, otherwise don't make such a claim. That is lazy writing.

I prefer Co-op with someone I know. Much more fun than playing by myself.

Whatever happened to the polls here on PALGN? They were pretty cool. Also 60 hours a month socialising isn't that much? That's 15 hours a week, if you go out one night a week that's around 8 hours, so an hour a day with your loved ones? Might have been a weirdly worded question. _________________

The research is dubious because it's a survey of 1000 people who use a "PS3 videogame and console price compare website". Not exactly a solid target market to say "MEN SPEND MORE QUALITY TIME WITH THEIR PLAYSTATIONS THAN THEIR GIRLFRIENDS". The sample they have looked at are people who routinely look up prices of PS3 games. You would expect them to be fairly into their videogames so it's understandable that they spend a lot of time away from their family's. _________________

What el_rezzo said.
Further to that, and without suggesting any sort of malice on behalf of the researchers, I think they knew when conducting this research that the website would be heavily promoted in the media as a result. It's wonderful and relatively cheap marketing.
Call me cynical, but if PALGN funded research that found that there was a link between attractiveness and looking up videogame news and reviews, I'd be suspicious...
...even though it's completely true. _________________

Hmmm... there may be some truth to this survey, depending on the social element that the survey was conducted on.
My fiancé works long hours, and usually nights, both during weekdays and the weekend. As a result, I spend the majority of my time with mates or playing games. I try to keep a healthy balance, as in with my different social circles and exercise, but truth be told, I prefer playing games

If you play games with friends, what does that count as?
I almost never play xbox games on my own (PC is another matter, due to the nature of the platform).
And anyhow, where's the control group? What do non-gamers do with their time? No doubt they have other antisocial activities to fill the void.
I hate it when pseudoscience is conducted by handing out 5th grade-level surveys and then branded as "academic research".

All internet surveys are completely true. Its science.
Yeah its a dodgy survey lol. Its as bias as they come. But why is this survey getting an article when there are a million bogus surveys on the net.
The next one will be a survey on a wii fit site asking do you play wii fit. "98% of women play wii fit!!" _________________

'Tis funny... I probably wasn't counted in said survey. Don't use the site; or have a PS3, and regularly catch up with friends and I game with my partner a fair bit (Go Go Gadget DS)

Well that is all the writer needed to say. He simply called it dubious research without offering any real explanation as to why.
However what still isn't mentioned is how often they use this website, and what other website browsing patterns they have. I myself routinely look up video game prices, as well as prices for all kinds of things I don't buy. It is called window shopping. Only now we can do it in our own homes. But if respondents were "routinely" looking up video game prices I would want to know what constitutes as "routine". Once a day? Once a week? Once a month?
That being said, I would firmly agree the research is bullshit. I am just saying you need to clearly state why you think that if you are going to do an article on it.

Oh it sucks to be wrong doesn't teashades, even more so when it's proven publicly.
Now, scurry off back home, which i would imagine to be underneath the nearest bridge for palgn's resident troll. _________________

Why bother stating the obvious?? It's pretty clear that PS3pricecompare is going to be bias as heck... _________________
