I was so disappointed when I found this out for the first time. As you can imagine, I got quite the reaction when I took knuckledusters to my first day of work. Simmons from accounts was never the same after he accused me of stealing his sandwich.
Anyway, can we get back to talking about games now? I like games.

This warning about behavior is extremely bias and only protects a handful of people, ive been a lurker for a long time and i have seen threads where palgn has ganked someone and the person who got ganked was banned , usually because of something small, if not banned then he would be warned.
After all this time of palgn fights, one person gets attacked and we need to make this a major thread.

If flamebait is stricken down just as harshly as the flamers, then this sounds like a good plan.
Also for those who say "lets talk about games", go to the gaming forum. That's a wonderful place, and has a whole lot less fights than this here general talk forum.

Andy got negged because of the massive hypocrisy in his actions.
I think the main problem that a number of the forumers have with andy is how he expresses his opinions. He's been unkind, and abused the neg system. Negs are for poorly written posts, or spam. Not for differing opinions.

Also an example of something one of them said that isn't really a disagreement but just down right offensive, and said to a kiwi whos grandfather died in WWII "It shouldn't be ANZAC, it should be AAC because New Zealand weren't helpful at all, it was Australians that did it all"
And these sort of ridiculous offensive comments are not once of, they are quite frequent, and when he's not making them he is trying to stir people in other ways.

Just curious. I know on the forum, its easy to report with a click a button, but on pms, there isn't one.
Is it possible to implement a reporting system on PMs so that it makes reporting pms a lot easier? (instead of having to choose a mod to report to, I usually just wait until a mod to go on irc for help or pick a random one hoping they are the right one)

I hated the 360, always said it sucked etc and then bought one, just because you hate it doesn't mean you shouldn't own it, it has good games on it.

What happen to the world were you should love all consoles like your brothers and sisters... Who cares what console you have, who cares what the console feature itself has, who cares if its gimmicky, just what you have on it.
I mean, I just saw another RROD message associated with the 360 again, I meant, come up with some new insults to the 360, maybe I should use my YLOD jokes just everywhere now to balanace the amount of RRoD insults for equality sake, and maybe the Wii read disk error that can be solved by buying their official lens cleaning kit, but you know, I have better things to do.

There's a difference between hating a console, buying it and then seeing how you are enjoying it compared to your previous opinion's on it.
Then there are people who own the console, love it, find thing's they hate on it, sell it, spend an amount of time investing in writing to let everyone else know why he hate's it and later down the track buy it again.

To be fair, isn't it also an abuse of the neg system to neg a post that is written fine, no grammatical errors and not spam? Say andy's newest purchases post?
Perhaps this is hypocritical of him, but it looks to me like bullying. It's not like this post could have offended you...

This is needed to an extent and I'm kind of happy that Obs has taken the initiative here. I've seen some very stupid remarks being made by both parties the last few days.
Though I think there needs to be actions taken more specifically on those who initially start this shit-stirring. It's one thing to be a total unlikable moron, it's another thing to be nasty about it.

Yeah, also a source of people sending abusive messages. Instead of ignore, maybe report so that user may not then possible abuse others? Block and report.
Even if its Private, mods can see them. (Edit, Admins, not mod. Thanks Denny for making me look stupid  )
That actually goes with revenge negging to. If the neg is suspicious, don't confront the user on the forum, report it to the mod straight away. Let them take action.

ehh true, but getting mods to read every single problem and fight with over sensitive people who cant understand what the internet is like, will just cause more pressure and annoyance from the mods then its possible they would start to make more rules that no one needs and threads no one wants,
I would be pretty annoyed if i had people nagging me that someone said the word vagina in a thread and that they should be punished because of personal preferences.

I realize Andy and every other member of this forum (including myself) is prone to say stupid things sometimes. That is why there is a neg button next to every post, it would be more appropriate to neg the post saying the stupid thing rather than one made a couple of months down the track.
With the example of Andy's post in the newest purchases it seems like all the negs were just an effort to get "one up" on him and say "I told you so" rather than express dissaproval toward the actual post.
