So some of you have more than likely noticed that over the past few weeks, going back into months, there has been a pretty steady decline in the levels of respect shown towards fellow PALGN members.
a lot of this falls on the Mods (myself included) for not picking up on it earlier, and while a lot of this is possibly due to Luke leaving (seems the jokes that managing PALGN is perfect exercise for managing primary schoolers is true) there really is no excuse.
the lack of respect shown to others is quite deplorable, and given that $poon fines are no punishment at all for behaviour such as personally attacking another member, we're going to start immediately with bans - at least for the immediate and foreseeable future. if we do relax this stance, know that there will be no announcement, since we feel that you should respect each other on a permanent basis, not simply because you might get caught without your source of entertainment.
sad that it has to come to this, but we feel there's no other choice.
this will be your first, last and only warning to respect other members, and the rules of PALGN - to those who have always behaved with respect, apologies for bringing you into this, but know that you have the thanks of the mod crew.

Sorry I had to neg you Obs, but there are some members I will never be able to respect, no matter how many times I am told or threatened to. That said I will not be making any posts to disrespect these users, but I think in some cases this should be allowed or people never try and improve (or simply just leave when they are clearly not wanted) and instead still go around annoying other posters and then having a cry when anyone disrespects them, such as making fun of their stupidity/immaturity.

Unless I'm missing something some really nasty posts, I think everything is fine. The best threads are ones where people actually have an opinion that differs and it gets a little heated (not personally attacks though, that is a no no I agree).
It seems these days are are tippy toeing around a few very sensitive forum members and it's making the whole place dry and boring. Am I the only one that thinks that?

People have been getting away with some shocking behaviour around here over the last few months. The last crackdown seemed to work, but it's sad that we need to go back to it again.
Edit: You can have as much debate as you want - I agree that it's boring without. Leave the attacks and mudslinging at the door though, that's all we want.

Will this apply to PM's as well then? The most childish users on this forum stick to sending insulting PM's with personal attacks as opposed to posting in here to avoid you mods noticing. Then they go and have a whinge in the public sections of the website about people not being nice to them.
I do agree that personal attacks and insults should not be allowed.

Sadly this is how most forums go from what I have seen. People assume because of time on a board that they have more freedom to say and act how they please. Or over time personal feelings fester and they come out. I think asking people to respect each other may be the wrong thing to say.. Perhaps ask people to just be bit more thoughtful before they lunge might be the answer.
Either way its nice to see this mentioned on here. I am only new to posting on PALGN but of all the forums I read I really love this place as I feel like I fit here better then other places I read.

We don't have the ability to see these, however send us a PM with the details about these kinds of insults and we'll get it checked up and dealt with.
Just trust in the mods guys. They won't take away your ability to debate or any of that, they'll just take away some people's ability in being an idiot/jerk.

I'm all for this. As has been said, debates between people on something is fine as long as it stays a reasoned and civil debate between two mature people, When the arguments get personal and start hitting nerves it is going to far, not only that it ruins what may have been a great thread.
Hopefully this takes care of some of the blatant attempts at s**t stirring too. If you want a flame war there are plenty of other forums you can go and defecate on.

Good work, guys, glad to see this announcement. Let's be honest, though, people who fail to show others respect will probably never change. I can already hear the whoosh of the banhammer.
Nobody is saying that you have to agree with or like everybody on PALGN, but here's a newsflash: in real life, you will constantly have to deal with and show respect to people who you would rather just push down the stairs. You will have no choice in this, unless you decide on a career such as lighthouse keeper on follow the Unabombers example. Why should PALGN be any different? The answer is, it shouldn't.
If you can't handle this, 4chan is thataway...

hey how about we just change it so we can only plus a post, and while were at it, maybe i can start painting rainbows and flowers on the edges to give the forum a more friendly family environment
