Hey guys,
I've really gotten stuck into BF1943 on the PS3 lately, and with Australian servers promised any day now (supposedly early this week), I think there's plenty of reason to get really pumped for this game.
It's really a return-to-roots, vamped up BF1942 clone, which for anyone who likes that frantic squad-based WW2-esque feeling albeit on a slightly more manageable scale with 24 people, is an awesome thing It's emphasis is back to squad-to-squad, flag-to-flag combat, as there is no commander and no win conditions beyond the ticket system.
The graphics are absolutely sublime, I don't think I've ever seen water that looks that good. The sounds are awesome, and the music is terrific too. They've picked three of the best maps; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo-Jima, and we can hope that additional map packs are just around the corner.
There are a few shortcomings though, and that's that there are only 3 classes (scout, infantry, rifleman) but each is drastically different to the other with a variety of uses for each (eg. infantry acts as engineer, and scout also deploys charges). The other downside is that there are currently only 3 maps, with a 4th to be unlocked once the community has tallied up 43 million kills (it'll be an all-air map, whoop!).
If a few of us get into this, there will be some awesome reasons to come back to BF1943 time and time again, because the built in squad system is terrific. Nothing quite like taking a whole squad through the map and dominating flag-by-flag
So for anyone thinking about getting this on PS3, please do! It's only $20 AUD and you'll find me there itching to get some friends games started!

It was a day 1 purchase for me and haven't regretted it at all. Despite the numorous frustrating spawn kills that happen, its easily the best downloadable game i've got so far.

^ Yeah, this is the online king, lag-wise. And the water does look superb. Bit miffed that the vast majority of maps played are Wake Island/Guadalcanal.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a favourite class? I'm a Rifleman myself. _________________

I'm trying to master the scout. I'm getting pretty good now, just I find as soon as they close the distance I'm in alot of hot water. Really have to get more efficient at the pistol
Oh, and I really find it hard to scout on Guadalcanal. I almost always switch classes to rifleman or infantry, because I find whilst it's hilly, there isn't too much cover to hide behind, and you almost always get picked off by riflemen who can shoot much faster. _________________

Hide in the broken ship thats on the upper middle (edited) part of the map, I got a fair few headshots from there yesterday, until a teammate decided to join me and give away my position _________________

I am loving this game. By my third game I came first and am now constantly in the top 3. I play mostly as the rifleman, as unless you get a headshot with the scout it doesn't kill them and infantry just suck. I have only played Guadalcanal twice but my favourite is Iwo-Jima. This is one of the most lag-free games I have played on console and even if there is lag I can still play well enough that it isn't an issue.

Been getting a little better at this game lately, even making it to the top 3 on occasion. I play on 360, feel free to add me.
