i was having a real shit day yesterday, driving around doing stuff for work. Had JJJ on at the time though, 70-61 were fantastic to listin to. Really helped to sooth my mood.
Looking over the list as it stands now, theres some great songs in there (as should be expected).
Probably won't look up the rest of the list, leaving the last 40 a suprise for saturday, and listin the the complete broadcast. _________________

The Triple J thing is a joke, I mean i'm happy with the number 1, but why acknowledge biased sampling? It's not like people from every age group is voting :S _________________

Well given they can only get Triple J listeners to vote, obviously its going to be biased to the younger generation. _________________ XBL/PSN/Steam: BenC82

Biased to the younger generation? songs 3-15 were all pre-80's from memory (except for Everlong and Under the Bridge)
Seems as though people love depressing songs, something which I will never understand. Felt like killing myself from number 15 up until Rage Against the Machine came in at number two, by which point I wanted to kill other people instead. (track being Killing in the Name of)

Knights of Cydonia #18 and no other Muse? Fail, Australia, fail. Nosebleed Section #17? Fail harder.
Great to see Killing in the Name at #2 though. #1 was well, no surprise. _________________

Found that mildly amusing
Does it go back to the 60's? _________________

Yeah Nosebleed Section was a massive fail. Can someone please tell me why people like Radiohead as well, I've been trying to work it out for years but haven't been able to. Is it the depressing, out of tune high-pitched vocals?
Just looked at the list online and take my comment back about all songs 3-15 being pre-80's. Judging by the top 20, it looks like an even mix of both young and old voters.
Overall very happy as I would've voted for an all electronica top 10, so was good to see Daft Punk's Around the World poll the highest in its genre, instead of some Presets garbage.

But that has been the approach since the start. If it were a true top 100 it would have Beethoven and Mozart and the Three Tenors among other boring, radio-unfriendly tracks.

I too though that Nosebleed section making the list was fail.
I am so happy that Radiohead made the list so many times, 4 I think. They are up their with my favourite ever bands, however I really wish that Myxomatosis made it, I love that song. Why do people like them? Some of it is depressing, but definatly not all of it, it just takes you to another place that no other band can go.
I'm also stoaked that David Bowie made the list with his best song. I'm glad that Elton made it, but there are a few other of his songs that I prefer to Tiny Dancer. _________________

I thought it was a really good list and enjoyed listening to it all week / over the weekend.
It probably peaked at 6 with Bohemian Rhapsody, though. Also, good to see a whole bunch of stuff I would have voted for made it in. _________________

Was 46 & 2 the only Tool song in there? Weird. But also awesome as it's lesser known and one of my absolute favourites.
Lack of Muse is disturbing though _________________

i wonder how much higher Michael Jackson could've gotten, if he'd died earlier than he did?
and i truly hate Smells Like Teen Spirit. i really don't understand why it's so popular. (i honestly think a lot of it relates to the same phenomenon i allude to in the first question i pose in this post.) _________________

Worst number 1 ever. Some of the top 100 holds some merit, but ultimately the whole thing was a massive joke, I'd actually expect that list from an MTV 100 songs of all time list, JJJ are even more retarded than I remember them to be.

MMM indeed Sin, the number 1 didn't surprise me at all. I'm glad RATM was #2, I'm a massive fan of them.
I couldn't stop laughing at all the bitching in response to the Top 100 on the JJJ site. _________________

You won't get a definitive greatest 100 if the votes are cast by the public. I mean crank that soulja boy made it to number 3 in the Australian singles chart with lyrics as creative as a 1 year old. _________________

I don't think it's that, it came in at #1 the year it came out. It's actually just that it's good, if you want the truth.

Considering it was fairly closely followed by Jeff Buckley and Joy Division, then yeah, I'd say that has something to do with it. But I quite like the song regardless. Wouldn't be my number 1, but its not bad.
As a side note, I quite enjoy the bitching. My highlight was everyone jumping on the 'its all going to be shitty new songs voted in by the preteen Nova crowd' bandwagon when Sex on Fire came in, and then the back peddling to 'aw its all 90's there's too much grunge' when that didn't eventuate and the songs were all that little bit older instead.
It was never going to be a 'greatest songs ever' list, otherwise you'd have to fill it with pieces of classical music and cultural music pieces. It was always going to go on the popular vote, and as far as a list of songs voted in on popular vote, its a damn good one.
God, I can't wait until I finish the transition from 'i'm a cool kid i listen to nova' to 'hey look at me i'm alternate i listen to triple j damn you mainstream losers with your nova' and finally to 'hey you're not alternate at all, triple j is mainstream, i'm going to complain about their song lists', because then i'll truly be alternate and hip. _________________

I don't understand the complaints. Sure JJJ is pretty underground compared to the other radio stations, but it's still pretty mainstream and well known. Also a lot of casual listeners to JJJ would vote becuase of the scale of this. It's a popularity contest and we're complaining that the popular songs won?
And Smells like teen spirit rocks. _________________
