So this game is comming out in a few weeks. I was keen for it, but after reading this review, I'm not so sure. I might spend my money on something else.

Every single gaming website review of this game will be useless, as they'll review it from the perspective of 'hardcoooore gamerz' and claim the game sucks because its not made for them, its made for the casuals. Which is untrue anyway, since things can be simple fun that appeals to non-gamers and still be appealing to these supposed hardcore gamers, but they don't seem to realise this as they have their heads to far up their arses to notice.

Anyhoo, what was my point? There's a reason why Wii Sports is popular with so many people, and its because its good fun. I have no doubt Wii Sports Resort will be more of the same. I'll be there day 1.

I tried it at Swanston St, it's great.
Anyone really interested in this game should preorder this at EB to get $20 off, and not only that but you'll get an extra Motion Plus if you go to the Midnight Launch at Swanston St.

Yeah dont let reviews influence your decision for a game, least of all IGN. Im absolutely sick of the power-deranged gaming media and how one loser idiot "gaming journalist" can crush a good game. I should be getting this game aswell because i enjoyed the first entry in the series and this is, like dances put it, more of the same good ol' fun. Basically if you enjoyed Wii sports youll enjoy this.

i don't trust any of the ign's except for the US one. the AU guys spend all their effort on trying to be controversial with their reviews they come across as idiots. and the UK guys spend more time looking up big words to use in their reviews then they do actually playing it. at least the US guys i can listen to on the podcasts, i can read their features and stuff. getting a general idea of what they look for, and how they review games.

so to summarize my ramblings. ign au sucks. dont listen to a word they say.

Is the starting price of this game going to be around the $100 mark? I want to play the game and all but for me, personally, i cant justify spending that much on this game.

JB HiFi will be selling it for $79 bundled with a Wii MotionPlus dongle. Or you can trade in 2 Wii games (not on their exclusion list) and get it free (which is what I'll be doing icon_biggrin.gif )

So, it's not too bad, especially if you have 2 cheap Wii games to trade in.

EB have $20 off if you preorder (as GarthAlgar said). Combine that with a JB pricematch (BigW will probably have it cheap too) and all of a sudden its more like $60, with motionplus. Can't complain about that.

But really, Wii Sports didn't review that well. If you expect Wii Sports Resort to get 9+s you'd be crazy. It's pretty much the same stuff with a new sports.

Shallow but fun. If you want more Wii Sports grab it.

I know I'll be passing on it though.

I doubt EB will allow you to combine the $20 off with a price match. The offer would say "not to be combined with any other offer" or something like that. And besides, isn't it $20 off RRP?

Well, I'm back from a visit to EB and I got a brochure on this game and they even had it set up to play, but I didn't give it a go, cause I was in abit of a hurry. But damn it, should of tried it out as it looks pretty cool.

Anyway it has 12 sports which include:

Archery
Bowling
Air Sports
Basketball
Table Tennis
Golf
Swordplay
Wakeboarding
Frisbee
Power Cruising (Jet Bikes)
Canoeing
Cycling

Swordplay looks pretty cool and the game is set on an Island called Wuhu.

Some games only need a Wiimote, while others require a Nuncheck aswell. And this game only works with MotionPlus.

The $20 off deal isn't to be combined with other offers, so its $80. I would say BigW have it for $78, like they did with Grand Slam.

God, I really should of given it a go.

I enjoyed playing Wii Sports, but the reason I enjoyed it because:

a. It was my first experience using the motion controls.

b. It was a free game.

I'm sure this is the same for many others.

The only thing holding me back with this one is the price. If the RRP was $50, then I'd be all over it.

Thats it, I mean Wii Sports was free and its fun, but its my least played Wii game. I'm concerned this will be the same, fun for a few hours and thats it. And I don't need MotionPlus, as I have it already.

The price is really making me wonder if its worth it, considering there are plenty of other games I want to buy and would get more game time from.

Isn't that like all Wii games? .... Just kidding, just kidding icon_lol.gif

But yeah, I agree, the price is a bit rich and I wouldn't pay it ... (thank goodness for the JB trade deals) ... but even at $79 (hell, even at $99) it's going to sell well so they can get away with the price tag.

Yeahh, its the price thats killing it for me too. I mean it would be fun, but I know for the same $80, I can get another new release game I will play for alot longer and get more fun out of.

It's a shame they couldn't retail this for $50.

But I wonder if they will start bundling this game, along with Motion Plus with the Wii Consoles soon.

It's interesting to hear about what parts of Wii Sports are well loved. In contrast to AB I think it still clocks in as Wii MOST played (MK close second)

So many of my friends go mad for Wii Bowling, and have the technique pinned down to a repeatable motion, nailing a strike almost every time from the exact same position. Wash, rinse, repeat. I got bored with Bowling after a couple of games as its always the same. I don't have a magic strike bowl but can usually clear a spare no matter what position I bowl from. At least I'm versatile.

The event that had my friends and I occupied for 12 months is golf. The changing winds and different position of the hole on the green kept things fresh and interesting, there's no way you can have a repeat game. After learning the courses you can pick when to cut corners and when to play it safe based on variable conditions. We eventually retired the game after we hit a glass ceiling - I simply cannot beat my score of 9 under par (which I am PROUD of) and every game is just chasing that score and the free feeling you get when it all plays out your way. Technical mastery unfortunately killed that go-by-guts approach.

The other games, I barely touched.

So more than anything, in Wii sports resort - I am amped for some fresh links. Day 1. Time to call in my ol' greensbuddies for some long overdue driving!

It's Wii Sports.

It's supposed to be pick-up-and-play. It's supposed to have relatively simple yet additively enjoyable games, many (if not all) of which shine brightest in multiplayer. It's the kind of game that you whip out at parties and everybody, gamer and non-gamer, can jump in and have fun.

It's not Halo or Gears of War. It's not Fallout 3 or Mass Effect. It's no Mario Galaxy and it's no Twilight Princess.

It's a souped up Wii Sports, but it's really not promising to be anything more than that. If you hated the premise of Wii Sports you wont like Sports Resort. The game wasn't made for you. If you would, however, like another unique pick-up-and-play game that you can laugh over for awhile with friends, one of which requires no real 'commitment' to enjoy, then I think you'll like it.

And really, it all boils down to how much use Wii Sports got. For me Wii Sports may not be used half as much as it was used when I first got it, but it still makes the occasional appearance when a few beers and a few ladies are involved. People, in general, just like the fun side of it.

Hey, I love an epic quest as much as the next guy, but if Wii Sports Resort leads to watching two tipsy cute ladies trying to wack each other with 1:1 sword control then I'm there day 1.

The Wii Sports games are a lot of fun, you just need to use them right.

Yeah they are, but it came free with the Wii.

As fun as they are to muck around with and play I wouldn't pay more than $40-$50 for Wii Sports, if it had of been sold seperately.

I'm still not 100% if I will get this or not. The thing is that I have so many other games I want to get this yr, games which will have will longer gameplay for me, eg campaigns and online etc.

I'm not saying this will not be a fun game, its just that $80 seems alittle pricey for what it is, esp with the line up of games I want this year.

But who knows, my mind may change alot in the next 2 weeks, but at this stage it'll just be a solid rental for me.

Best thing is to wait I guess. Wait until some other reviews roll in, or until some of us get the game and can give some direct feedback. No loss there!

In all honesty, in its heyday, Wii Sports was worth the $400 I paid for the Wii to play it. I could have never bought another game for it, and I still would have considered it incredible value. Even now, while Wii Sports may not get the playtime it used to, it still comes out enough that, Wii Sports would be well and truly worth $100 or whatever if it was sold separately.

And I have no doubt Wii Sports Resort will continue this trend, and be worth the $100 / $80 / whatever I'm going to pay for it.
