This is sad news. Say what you will about Michael Jackson, but he had more talent even when he was six years old, than most of the population could ever dream of.
I have nothing but respect for MJ. He was truly unique, somewhat naive, and although I didn't really like his music after the 1980's, he's done more than enough to solidify his status as a music legend. Dying relatively early, unfortunate as it may be, pretty much guarantees it now too.

While there was a lot of controversy around him it is very sad that he died. It's sad when anyone dies. Despite all the problems he had in life he is still a human being that died pretty young and that is a tragedy.
We'll never see another moonwalker game, that just ain't cool.

R.I.P. Michael. I wasn't a huge fan of him or anything, but I have a lot of respect for what he did, his talent, and the impact he had on musical culture. Very disappointing and unexpected news. _________________

Great muso, but I'm not going to lose sleep over this although I never thought he did what he was alleged to have done. Personally I think his ****** up childhood lead to him never really growing up, it seemed like (for a very long time) he still had the mind of a child.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure there's a certain controversial Chaser song that sums up this thread quite nicely.

That whole auction has some of the most unbelieveable items imaginable. Some of those arcade machines bring back some memories.
As for MJ, it is sad that someone with an enourmous amount of talent lived such as turbulent and troubled life. RIP

Yeah, the guy had talent, yeah, he made some fucking phenomenal music, but if Ivan Mallat had written Beethoven's 5th, does that somehow absolve him of his crimes? Does great art outweigh moral misconduct? And lets not do the whole 'all deaths are sad', because if Ivan Mallat really did die, everyone who could be bothered would be dancing.
Sure, the verdict came back innocent, but its not like American courts can screw up cases when it comes to high profile defendants... But hey, if you still think OJ and R. Kelly are innocent, that's your business...
Personally, I wouldn't use this opportunity to outright insult the guy, but a sly verbal jab or two aren't off the menu: it's often the ONLY price to being famous, unless you consider legions of fans and piles of money as a burden... Is the day he dies an apporpriate time to make said verbal jabs? well, that all depends on whether you actually liked the guy.
Also, anyone making comparisons between people forumites know/are related to personally, and famous people nobody here has ever met who have done some questionable things: you are the ones who need to grow up, sirs. I can't believe how quick people are to get on their moral high horses and soap boxes in defence of someone they've never even met. Unbunch your panties and get some perspective, there will be plenty more opportunities for you to whip out your moral egos and compare sizes in situations where, you know, it actually counts for something. I doubt MJ's family and friends are visiting PALGN forums for their latest gaming fix... _________________

^ Really? Did you really just invoke the hypothetical death of Ivan Milat as analogous to Michael Jackson? One a proven multiple murderer (in gruesome circumstances), the other an unquestionably talented performer loved by millions who was found innocent by a court. I'm not a diehard MJ fan by any means (I quite like some of his music, but that's it), but dude... really bad analogy.
Anyway, I think celebrity jokes can be funny, even about deaths, but there's some times and places where its' just wrong. This morning, I thought Fetid's jokes and unproven allegations to him as a child molester were out of place less than an hour after his death had been first reported, and before the coroner had even confirmed he was dead. Joke on, for sure, but recognise that there is a time and a place for everything, and when the body is still warm, perhaps that isn't it.

I was using the outrageously incongruent analogy to illustrate this point:

Point taken, it was in pretty poor taste, but it certainly wasn't the equivalent of slandering someone's dead grandma to their face at the funeral like some other forumites are making it out to be. That would be as outrageous as comparing MJ to Ivan Mallat _________________

I don't think he's dead. He just faked his death so that when everyone attends the concerts (which by then will still not have been canceled), he'll open up with the zombie part from Thriller.
It will be the best concert ever seen by human eyes. It will astound you. It will deliver sonic pleasures to the very depths of your auditory system and go straight out your ass in a spray of shitting bricks. You will never hear new music again because the only songs stuck inside your head are those from the concert. For the rest of your life it will come up in your dreams not as nightmares but as blind euphoria as you wander the lucid depths of dear sweet Michael Jackson.
It will be even better than The Wall performed at the Berlin Wall. It transcend the transcendence of Simon and Garfunkel Rock Central Park. It will be more violent than the Rolling Stones concert with the Hells Angels providing security. It will out-Woodstock Woodstock as legions of fans share in a collective acid trip of absolute decadence beyond what the world has ever known.
Just you wait.

There's a show on channel 10 tonight called "The Life and Death of Michael Jackson". How did they get a documentary done so quick?
