GOD of WAR meets Castlevania? This is how the PS2/Xbox Castlevania games should have been like from the beginning! _________________

Say this looks really promising!
god of war style combat + classic metroidvania style game structure = win

That looks awesome. No idea what all the negativity is about with it being 3D. _________________

Loving the golems. Also seems to have a bit of a darker undertone to the preceedings, Prince of Persia-esque in a way. Colour me intrigued anyway.

Bad memories from Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness? Granted they weren't that bad, but it seems that whenever you take something loved out if it's original form, you're in for a pasting if it's anything short of brilliant.
Talking about Castlevania 3D, Castlevania 64 was awesome but horribly maligned for some reason...
Once I get home I'll watch the trailer, but the screens look solid at the moment. _________________

I guess I can understand where the fans come from. Me not being all that affiliated with Castlevania, I just look at this trailer and think "woah flaming crucifix whip of death plus a giant cyclops thing".
I have to admit, it looks very nice for what it is so far. Fast paced. _________________

Have to admit that trailer made me cautiously optimistic.
Still a little worried that its turning Castlevania into God of War. _________________

Yeah does look too similar to God of War.
What helped make Castlevania 2D so addictive was the little bit of strategy you needed, plus the small rpg like elements in terms of all the items and weapons and armour you could find/buy etc. Hopefully they are forgotten about.
But so far, yeah, looking quite good. And the voice acting and dialog is only a zillion times better than ever. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

Did you mean "hopefully they aren't forgotten about", because otherwise I'm confused.
I dunno, I think that the 3D versions of the game can be more God of War/Devil May Cry-esque. I mean, that puts it more in line with the original feel of the games (pre-SOTN), only in 3D. Then again, if they want to throw in a few RPG elements I'm certainly not going to complain.

So, like, 3D Castlevania titles predate the God of War series... and this doesn't look very far removed from it's past incarnations, except for improved graphical quality and fluidity of combat.
By the looks of it (going more off screenshots than trailer) this game will still contain environmental exploration and progression like the previous titles - so it (looks like it) won't be a linear 'go through level, beat boss, go to next level' affair.
You know, just sayin' ... probably a bit early to say 'they're turning it into God of War'.
