Just to let you know that link is broken.
I've been playing UFC Undisputed and really enjoying it, so I'm actually looking forward to this. It will be interesting to see what brands of MMA they go with.

being an MMA fan and loving UFC 2009 Undisputed I really hope EA don't just knock out another 'sports' game and actually put some real thought and effort into this. having said that, any fighters in the game aren't going to be licensed so I can't say I would be raring to get it anyway.

^ Well they surely won't get the UFC fighters 'cause THQ must have the license. I assume it's gonna be like releasing an NJPW game, you'd have to really love the sport in general to get it.
I'll be holding out until I see EA buy the UFC off THQ or something. Nice to know it's the Madden people doing it, they know a thing or two about takedowns. _________________

Wow, how niche!
I guess it goes to show how big the gaming market is, if they have the market there to sell such a title to!
I didn't even known what "MMA" stood for before it was mentioned in the article.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world. PPV sales exceed that of wrestling. It still doesn't have the reach wrestling has, but it is no longer a niche sport. Granted a lot of its success has to do with UFC, but I think fans of that promotion may get on board with this game.

No, there won't be any UFC fighters in the game, but there's still hope for guys from DREAM et al. I don't really agree about loving the sport though. I don't particularly love boxing yet I think FN is a fantastic series and Round 4 is my most anticipated game at the moment. Aside from the boxers who's names get bandied about a lot, I don't know most of the boxers appearing in the game.

They will have no problem getting a roster together, I'm sure Randy Couture has a deal with EA hence why he wasn't on the UFC game.
Also the heavyweight division is bigger outside of the UFC. They will get legends such as Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie to help promote the game.
And the game is still a year away, with Dream and Sengoku getting exposure on HDnet in the states along with K-1 (Which sometimes have MMA stars fighting on there cards). Then you have strikeforce who now have a contract with showtime and I believe CBS.
So many fighters outside the UFC are getting exposure, MMA can only get more popular not less. The sport is still developing having only been brought to western countries over the last 15 years. _________________

For reference Royce Gracie's last official MMA fight was as a welterweight (170lbs) so I'm not sure how he fits in with your comment on the Heavy Weight division being bigger outside of UFC. That and the only heavyweight fighter outside of the UFC good enough to get a UFC contract (that isn't already in the game or currently contracted to the UFC) would be Fedor Emalianenko.

having said that, would be awesome to see the UFC to throw some cash at the likes of Royce Gracie, Tank Abbot, Don Fry and Dan Severn etc and get them in the next iterations of the game.
