|
|
|
|
| Quote: | The reins of Konami's Castlevania franchise may be handed to Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, as the developer is listed as partly responsible for a new game in the series Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
Lords of Shadow was actually announced at last year's Games Convention, a title to be developed by Madrid-based Mercury Steam and originally pitched as the foundation of a new "action-adventure IP." Looks like that might have changed, as the game may have been retrofitted to be a new Castlevania game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Not that difficult of a retrofit maybe, as the game's first trailer showed a cast that looked very much at home in the Castlevania universe, with a protagonist named Gabriel wielding the hilt of a weapon—known as the Combat Cross—that's part whip, part stabbing weapon.
The Castlevania: Lords of Shadow connection comes as part of a triumvirate of Gamespress leaks and may be tied to Kojima Productions "Mask" project. Will Mr. Kojima have another sneaky announcement planned for Sony's E3 press conference tomorrow
? Tune in and find out! |

Not sure what to think about this. Are we going to get an over to the top story driven Castlevania? _________________ Shin J Leon.

Instead of "war, war never changes". It'll be "ghosts, ghosts and castles never change". - Yawn. _________________

Ghosts and Castles might actually mean some gameplay rather than simply sitting the player through movie after movie - wonder if he's up for the challenge?
I'm keen to see what this brings - the gaming world needs more (good) Castlevania. _________________

Personally? I'm disappointed, I don't want my Castlevania being bogged down by cutscenes and ******** story arcs. I want a whip, a few hundred zombies, and maybe a cross to stab in Dracula's ugly face... that's it.

Agreed. There are so many different ways this could go too, it'll be interesting to see what gameplay they end up settling on.
I think any attention Castlevania is getting now though is a good thing!
Side note, it's really terrific this year to see so many classics being revisited. I think it's healthy for the industry to recognise where it has struck with great success in the past, and try to re-invigorate the appeal that those games offered.
It certainly beats making another flavour-of-the-month FPS. _________________

^ Totally. I figure that it can only be better than the last couple of 3D outings, and the 2d side is being well taken care of, so win/win.
As poor as it was, I sunk many hours into Curse of Darkness (even accidentally bought it twice... ) _________________

This is a great idea! Every single 3D Castlevania game has been a disappointment (if not completely awful) so why not try something totally different? Castelvania 3D has gone the way of Sonic and NOT Mario and Zelda. Perhaps Konami have realized they have a franchise which still sells millions, that they keep messing up! This might be their chance to finally make a foothold in 3D and create another "modern" franchise from their past.
The best part is that we don't have to worry about 2D Castlevania because the DS will keep pumping them out year after year as long as we keep buying _________________

Yeah, I didn't quite get the relevance of that either. _________________

Leon, to answer your initial question, probably yes. Let's hope it can capture the essence of SoTN, arguably one of the all time classics.

Yes it is. That magnificant voice of Ron Pearlman. I was trying to reference the war quotes snake makes at the beginnin of the game, "war......" oh god i could have sworn that as it. But now you pull the fallout 3 reference on me i'm stumped. _________________

If it was a 2D Castlevania I would have mind Kojima directing it but seeing as I think the new one is 3D I'm actually quite interested to see how it goes. What happened to the series creator? _________________

almost.
in MGS4 it's "War has changed."
it actually made me laugh a little when one game had that line, and another said the opposite. _________________
