You know that teaser that Kojima put up on his site? Well Famitsu might have revealed what platform the game is for. In Famitsu's PS3/PSP dedicated magazine, there is a teaser for next week's issue saying "new Metal Gear"

He’s already developed multiple PSP games, and the engine that powers Metal Gear Solid 4 was certainly not cheap to produce; it would make sense for Kojima’s next game to appear on either system. With the countdown timer ticking away and no hints appearing as of yet, it seems the best thing gamers can do is to wait and see how this all turns out; after all, E3 starts in less than two weeks, and this supposed issue of Famitsu lands in Japan two days before the show. Rest assured, if anything comes of this strange rumor, we’ll be right on top of it. |

Hopefully it is just (as most have speculated) a subsistence version of MGS4 exclusively for ps3 so no compromises are made. It would probably come with the 2gb + of updates on mgo too.
I still would have preferred a different Hideo game though considering mgs4 isnt even old yet.

Regardless of what it is there is no doubt in my mind it will be coated in quality. The production values will be throug the room and the story will probably be impossible to understand. That being said i would want it to be anything BUT another MGS. I think he owes it to his fans to create something entirely differnent this time around.

Hype machine is certainly going nuts with both sides of the camp (Sony/M$) trying to pull the next game exclusively to their system.
dloiscute is bang on though, MGS4 is still fresh, I wonder if they WOULD do a solid 5 this soon. Even though Hideo said this is his last one, he just keeps pumping them out.
I'm going to go on a limb. PS3 gets MGS4: Subsistence and 360 gets MGS5 exclusive.
I'm really looking forward to this annoucement. Konami have done a great job.

Yes, I want a subsistence version of it, as I stupidly traded in MGS4 and am waiting for a better version.

I'd actually prefer they release a paid downloadable content for this. I don't want to have to re-buy the game.

I am a massive MGS fan, but I really hope this is something different too. His other games have never really interested me but I am hopeful he can make something else that is equally as brilliant as MGS. That said I certainly wouldn't dismiss MGS5 if it were to occur. Although a next-gen remake of the original Metal Gear would melt my pants.

Yeah it is a long shot (I'm sure they don't want to waste the MGS4 engine, nor should they) but more realistic then GoW 3 on the PS3 
The MGS series has never been a Sony exclusive. Although it is clear Kojima perfers the PS brand.

The countdown site is now also flashing "e", "E" and "3". Don't know what the E is, but possibly the 5 is MGS5 and the 3 is PS3?

If it is MG related, I'm kinda wondering if it'll play through the same timeframe but from a differen't person's perspective. Would be interesting to experience that seeing Snake perform the story you've previously played while exploring story that was otherwise hidden.

Looks like MGS 5 will be announced at E3.
If so, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, be a series reboot and have a fresh setting and characters. I'm a bit over the whole patriots thing.

Yeah, new story and new characters would be nice.
I know Snake is such an awesome character, but I can't see how they can continue with him as the lead.
If they could come up with another character equally as cool as snake, with a totally new story, this would be good news. Gameplay wouldn't have to be totally new either IMO.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was announced not too long after Snake Eaters release wasn't it? The game could still be years off. I'm almost certain Subsistence was announced after Guns of the Patriots.

Only 3 years between MGS2 and 3, so 5 isn't far fetch at all.
Considering if it's the same console (engine).

Nar admeister, if you watch the current one you'll notice what appears to be Big Boss appear on the screen during the countdown.
I made a screensaver of just the rain because I thought it looked pretty cool if anyones interested.
