Like the topic says, what are some good multiplayer car racing games... that aren't online only multiplayer games?
Just looking for some local play action. Also I don't mind some good suggestions for some good multiplayer platformers or adventure games.
Try to convince me as to why I should get them also. _________________

ummm, for racing, what sort of racing? as in running away from cops, souping up your fully sick v8 commodore bro, or more track racing with tons of options?
for the souped up feeling, i havent really played too much, but i found nfs undercover fun, but thats a personal opinion.
for that fine tune your really fast car id suggest grid or forza 2.
and for some good multiplayer adventure/platformers, first thing that comes to mind is call of duty or halo or even resident evil 5?
call of dutys pretty amazing online, pointing at you cod4 and cod5.
halos great for simplicity, just make sure your mic is on mute.
and resident evil has co op which works great, tons of stuff to do in it unlocking wise. i also believe the demo doesnt do its justice, as i played the demo, hated it, saw jb had trade 2 games for it, so i traded in 2 cheap games and love it! _________________

^Not sure I'd class Halo, CoD of RE as either platformers or adventure games.
Still, better than my suggestion of nothing. Does the 360 even have a decent platformer (BK:N&B doesn't count, I mean more traditional)?
As for racing, I haven't played it but I have heard great things about GRID. _________________

Midnight Club LA seems to fall within what your looking for.
Not sure on the community these days but the connection holds up well with the Americans _________________

Forza 2. Pretty awesome, and incredibly cheap because it was included with 20GB Pro for some time. _________________

Forza 2 is superb, the online is awesome, especially with the unlimited fine tuning you can do to your cars and the auction house. For local play though Its probably not the best as its a simulator and not as fun as PGR4 for racing with friends. Ive played some LAN with PGR4 and its alot of fun, the cat and mouse mode is awesome and the racing is a little bit more arcadey than what Forza offers. Not really sure exactly what you want but those two games are the best racers on the 360 IMHO. _________________

I can't really offer anything in the racing side of things (besides, you've already been told the two best, Forza2 and PRG4). However on the flipside of the coin, Crash of the Titans is insanely good fun, unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try the two player but if it's half as good as single player it'd be a fun ride.

Cheers for the suggestion so far guys.
These are ideally suggestions for games to play with my girlfriend... and games such as Call of Duty, Forza and Halo aren't good options for two-player games for us. For me... well, yeah probably eventually down the line
I used to love the old-school Need for Speed games like the Hot Pursuit days, before Underground (?). So is the new Need for Speed game(games?) like old-school or new?
My girlfriend is into racing games (not the overly realistic ones like Forza) and platformers and adventure games. We're both surprisingly having a blast with The Simpsons game
Though I'm thinking I might look into getting a Guitar Hero game soon. Everyone likes that. _________________

How about one of the earlier Burnout games (I'm not sure which ones came out on 360 before Paradise). They come with offline multiplayer, are far from over realistic and smashing into cars and watching the insane amounts of damage you can do is hugely fun.
The latest NFS games have gone back to being track racers, I this occured from Pro Street onwards, buy from what I've heard they aren't exactly good games.
EDIT: Also on the adventure side of things why not try Kameo, although it's more of a platformer it is definitely a fun game. It's beautiful with really vibrant graphics and the transformation aspect of the game is quite fun. After playing multiplayer with my younger brother I can say that it is quite honestly really fun to play through it with someone else. _________________

for something more hardcore Forza 2 will do _________________

Grid is fun but i dont know about local multiplayer. You cant go wrong with guitar hero unless you dont like music. Cant think of any platformes at all

My suggestions are both off of the XBLA
Firstly, the 360 DOES have a decent platformer, Psychonauts of the XBLA Originals. Amazing game that I love
But as for a racing game, you can get the BEST offline multiplayer Burnout game on Xbox Originals as well, Burnout 3: Takedown. Lots of fun, including Crash Mode _________________

PGR3 and PGR4 are very good arcade (NFS type) racers. PGR3 has good local multiplayer (except you don't get the in car view with local )

My vote would also go to PGR4.
Sega All-Star Racing is shaping up like the kind of game that'd be fun in multiplayer too.
