www.computerandvideogames.com has posted up the "world's first" footage of Uncharted 2's single player mode. Here's the streaming link. Download link. The game is looking absolutely amazing. icon_smile.gif

The level of detail in the game is stunning. The breeze blowing the stuff hanging across the buildings, the water puddle, the baddie holding his hand after it was shot, the stealth.

Awesome!

Not really first, since longer footage of this same section was leaked about six weeks ago, but the game is beautiful so I can still dig it. Even this minute of footage shows improvements over just about every aspect of Uncharted 1. The animation is smoother, the assault rifle seems more useful and the enemies aren't shrugging off four bullets to their bare chests, and those who've seen the leaked footage can attest to the loveliness of the new climbing system. This is my most anticipated game by far, I loved the first and this is already better than it was.

Ah, looks like it's not the first after all. False claim! It's certainly much better quality though.

Well, it's certainly the first official showing. And it is a different playthrough of the same area. Hopefully we'll get much more footage from Gametrailers, and soon, too.

In the latest IGN Podcast Beyond, they say that they will be posting up five minutes of Uncharted 2 single player footage today.

Edit: And here it is.

http://playstation3.gamingmedia.de/downloads,id2377,uncharted_2_among_thieves_gameplay_trailer.html

GAME OF THE FUCKING YEAR. It's like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune had a baby, and this is that baby.

540MBs of full quality 720p Uncharted 2, if anyone's interested. Blows Gametrailers' alleged 'HD' out of the water.

This game... I've never been more excited for a game ever. Every single thing is perfect.

Sooo much uncharted media. I cannot wait for this game!

I hope the stealth feels in place. The worse thing ever in games is when you a forced to use a broken stealth system.

Finally got around to watching this.

Fuah, talk about a graphical upgrade.

Biggest thing that impressed me was that the game screamed colour, and had real-time dynamic lighting with full shadows at a good shadow map resolution too. Very impressive feat considering the fillrates and the memory they have to work with to get those shadow resolutions and colours. Massive kudos to ND for being as technically proficient as the boys at Guerrilla.

Seems to have borrowed some visual tech from Guerrilla and Konami too. Game has a really MGS4ish feel to it with character models of KZ2 detail.

Being a massive graphics junkie..that was mind blowing stuff. Smashes CE3 as far as I'm concerned.

Oh and yeah the gameplay looks great too icon_razz.gif It's Naughty Dog, I expect no less.

I actually liked that more than the catacombs. I thought the game looked its best in the jungle scenes. Each to their own I guess.

Did you finish Uncharted?

From memory, there were jungles, ancient ruins, catacombs, a fortress, cliffsides, a submarine (!), old buildings from like 1700-1800, a flooded city and a Nazi research lab! Yes there was foliage in most of those areas, but that hardly qualifies as 'jungle'.

The jungle scenery was one of the highlights graphically no doubt. Beats the drab city setting of an infamous. I'm actually hating that demo at the moment.

Holy crap this game looks incredibly fun to play. I haven't played the first so I dunno if it's the same but I really liked the close combat fighting as well as the stealth kills. Really fluid.

There were a couple of niggling issues, the animation in the initial scene felt a bit stiff and the game lacks AA but otherwise it was a graphical masterpiece.

I just hope it doesn't get hit with PoP-itis. Whereby the path forward is incredibly linear (that climbing scene just felt really forced nad it didn't feel like you were progressing naturally, but that you were following a set path made by the developers.

This is only 5 minutes though so here's hoping the final version is much more open in its progression (doesn't have to be open world, just feel like it is, if you get my jist).

That is the very reason, I'll be getting a PS3 when I boot it overseas in August though. So I'll be able to grab it then. I'd actually had zero interest in Uncharted until I watched that video (it looked in videos and stuff too "Gears of War-y" to me, and I got really bored with Gears, granted I only really watched combat videos so that could be why). That UC2 video however makes me want to play the original big time.

Uncharted is nothing like Gears Sin. It may be third person, but the combat is alot more smooth than Gears of War. Uncharted also has an excellent story and varied level design. IMO, its the best PS3 exclusive. Its pure Awesomeness.

Naughty Dog really need to get onto announcing the multiplayer beta for PAL regions. I'll import a US copy of inFamous if that's what it takes, but some way of getting a beta code locally would be preferable.

Uncharted is still my favourite PS3 game. I just went back to play it this weekend - and its still a great game - on the second run through - the gameplay really shines, because you can experiment alot more with the controls...and not worry about finishing the story quickly so much. the only place it really falters is that the platforming and combat felt quite seperate but looks like that was one of their major focuses for the second game.

Uncharted 2 looks to really up the ante on stealth and offer faster gameplay... it looks amazing and if they can offer up a 10 hour story with different and amazing locales (we know there's a city level, probably caverns, mountains and snow) it should be a really good time. Multiplayer looks like a bonus and really not fussed what happens with that.. Ill be judging it on the single player component thats for sure!
