|
|
|
|
Hey.
I've really started becoming fond of platform games. Hence, I want to play more. So what are some good/okay platform games for the DS or Wii.
Thanks!
Additional information:
I like 2D or 2.5D ones, For the Wii or DS, can mention gamecube if game is really good or something, same goes for GBA games.
Please don't mention these games (plan to/have them):
Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy
SSBB (Solo mode)
DS:
Kirby Squeak Squad
New Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario 64 DS
Sonic Rush (both)

What about Yoshi's Island 2 for DS? I personally didn't like it, but many people did and it's still one of the better platformers on the DS I think. _________________

Wii:
Warioland Shake Dimension - It's a 3D side scroller (plays like 2D platformers), but you use the Wiimote and shake it etc. Its alot of fun, but fairly short.
Klonoa: Door to Phenomile - It's a remake of the PS1 version, again its a side scroller.
Super Paper Mario - I highly recommend this game, while its not a platformer soley, cause it blends both side scrolling with RPG elements. It looks 2D, but you can also flip the world into 3D.
DS:
Kirby Super Star Ultra - Its a remake of the original NES game with tones of mini games.
Kirby Canvas Curse - This game uses the stylus to draw obstacles for Kirby, eg platforms, ramps etc.
Drawn To Life - This is an awesome game, it has 2 different parts to the game, one section is you have to clear the village of dark cloud so villages return, it plays like Animal Crossing, then you have the 2D side scrolling levels, where it plays like a platformer, you rescue the villages, defeat enemies and you can draw chracter, weapons, vechiles, platforms etc. It plays like a mix of Mario and Wonder Boy. I highly recommend this, if you're wanting something unique and different.
As for the GBA...I could go on and on, but will just list a few that are pretty popular.
Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission
Klonoa
Mario series
Astroboy
Sonic Advance
Kirby
Warioland 4
Hope this helps. _________________

Did you own a SNES? If so, tells us what games. There are a lot of very solid platformers, some of the best ever made, on WiiWare that are worth looking into. _________________

Lost winds is nice but very short.
De Blob is well made and platformer like.
Boy and his blob is being remade.
The there is VC, megaman etc remakes, not really into platformers so i don't look at them but you should find plenty.
there's also other odd games on wii like okami more of a zelda type game, and toki tori, and zack & wiki, kind of puzzle platform games. _________________

Dude, hook that Wii up to the internet, grab yourself some point cards, and start downloading!
Some of the best platformers to date are on there. _________________

It's not a platformer, it is an RPG. Simon the Nekonin lies!
A platformer is like Super Mario 64 DS, a remake of Super Mario 64 on the N64. I had fun with that, practically because of the nostalgia. _________________

ZieDog, I was quite serious about hooking up your Wii to the net and downloading some old games.
Is there anything that might stand in the way of you doing this? Because if you missed a lot of SNES games, and genuinely want some 2D platformers of high quality, you're really missing out on a gold mine of games.
Yoshi's Island, for example, is easily one of the best platformers ever made. _________________

the snes came out before i was born. so i'm a bit eh-ee about playing things that are older than me. Although saturn bomberman is old at it was so good when i played it last year.
How big are the files for these virtual console games but? don't wanna ruin my DL limit. I never no how much mario kart i can play online cause of it.... it wouldnt be much tho would it?
omg!!!!! Yoshi's Story!
just saw that game ahhaah, is that on virtual console is aus? i used to play it at my friends house with mario kart 64 omg so good.
Might just get those two games then, 500 or 1000 points each?
I don't wanna get games that graphics are really crap but. 64 is good, never play snes or nes but so not too sure about those graphics. _________________ Currently Playing:

If you don't want those older games, then you're truly missing out. Sonic, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, Mega Man, Alex Kidd, Kirby etc are all awesome, classic games.
They are all 2D games and they all old up well graphically to this day. You have to keep in mind, that most 2D platformers still play and look good now, however 3D games often don't.
The NES/Master System games are only 500 points on the Virtual Console.
I can't stress enough that Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Kirby's Adventure, Mega Man 2, Sonic, Alex Kidd are all awesome games and you're really missing out, if you don't pick these up. _________________

i just played my 10 games i had demos of in SSBB. And yeah, actually there pretty good. I might just go with some of these older games.
Ice Climbers, Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's story, Super Mario Bros. and some of the other games on SSBB. think i'll go with the newest metroid tho.
But you know what i like just realised? A platform game in 2d is like, essentially becomes a RPG. Metroid platform, 3D= RPG. wow.....
ahahha i wanna play these games now. So much for Sonic and The Secret Rings game i just bought.....
Plus seems sorta expensiveish to me.... meh.
Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. seem so similar? Except ones on the back of a yoshi. _________________ Currently Playing:
