A little curious since the rise of multiplatform games have seen traditional PC shooters on consoles and I just wanted to know which is more popular now.
For those who play CoD4:MW and/or CoD:WaW what is your preferred platform and why?

I play WaW on the 360 because it looks good, runs well and, well, I only really play the 360 now days..
I wont play games on the PC any more as I used to have a lot of trouble running games I wanted to play. In the end of the day, I'd rather play a console game that I know will run out of the box without needing to spend a small fortune on upgrades.
I've got a Wii as well, but I'm bored with it and games like CoD look a hell of a lot better on the 360. _________________

I have played it only on the 360 and PS3 (apart from the first), but if I was going to buy COD4 I would like the Mac version for the mods/custom maps etc.

360 definetely, its what all my friends play and I dont like running next-gen games on my PC as its just a hassle, usually doesnt run as smooth as the consoles.
Consoles are just the easy option nowadays, you know the game will always run fine and you don't have to worry about PC specs. I still prefer RTS games for sure on PC, they just don't work on consoles no matter what developers say, its stupid and they are simplified so much that there not fun. _________________

Computer because you cant get anywhere near the accuracy and response speeds from a controller than that you would get from a keyboard and mouse.
In addition, PC just has more servers and people who play it imo. Its easy to just jump into a game whenever you're up for it as there are usually quite a few servers with people in int. Providing it isnt some ridiculous hour like 3 or 4 in the morning.
Also for mod and support reasons. Not so much cod 4, but cod waw has had a 2 patches in the last few months, not sure if these were addressed in the ps3/xbox versions but to see they are ironing out some bugs is a good thing to see. _________________

The first game I played to death on PC, now I play on the 360. Still love the first title though, so incredible back in the day.

I actually got COD:4 on the PS3 because a couple mates had it too. Bad move. There was nothing actually wrong with the game on the PS3, but it just lacked the community aspect, in my opinion.

360 for me, but I rarely play games on my PC anymore. Mainly because it's a piece of crap. But also just cause my 360 allows me to relax on the couch as I game. _________________

Get a good PC then? With a decent gaming rig you don't even have to bother looking at specs for anything until it gets about 4 or so years old. Mine is a year old and I am yet to play a game that runs less than 30 FPS on high, and only one that runs less than 60FPS on high (Crysis). Much better looking because it's high and 1920x1200 (>1080p), consoles tend to use medium at 720p yet still only get around 30FPS.
Also agree with Zhou mostly, but I do think sometimes there are crazy people on at 3-4am, in fact in holidays and weekends it's usually when the funniest people are on.
I would also like to add PC has all more customisable settings (not just graphically), mods and all that jazz.

COD4 on PS3 for me. I had it on 360, but I get a better connection on PS3 and prefer the controller. _________________

CoD4 on PC all the way! I defintely prefer the controls on the PC and the ease of chatting and abillity to use Xfire in the game and playing with a clan. Also the fact that we dont have to pay for any of the extra maps!

I got CoD4 on PC at release. Shortly thereafter got the 360 version for my brother since, at the time, he had a pretty garbage PC.
He played through it on veteran on the 360 and ranked up to 40 or so on Live, but after I installed it on his sub-par PC, he inadvertently found himself playing the latter version instead. On a crappy 15" computer monitor with low details compared to a widescreen 52" LCD television.
Point being that it is just a lot more fun on the PC than on the consoles. Still have the 360 copy though, for when people come over and we want to play split screen.. but for Modern Warfare 2, we'll be doing 2x PC versions. Seriously, control wise, just incomparable. The way a thumbstick works compared to a mouse means you just can't replicate the PC FPS experience perfectly on the console.. eg, how would you pull off a flick shot?
Oh and final point, anyone here who says PC gaming is too expensive can kiss my ass. You can build a highly competent gaming tower (so sans screen, just like a console) for no more than $500-600. Forgetting the fact that such a PC is cheaper than a PS3, it'll also, you know, be a personal computer. And run any PC game maxed out without a hiccup, at higher resolutions than a console can dream of. With anti-aliasing. In-fact, I'm so bored with this insomnia, here's a price list I whipped up in five minutes:
Pentium DC E5200 $100
Asus Motherboard P5VD2-VM SE $70
2GB DDR2 RAM $30
320GB SATA HDD $70
512MB GeForce GTS 250 $195
Coolermaster Extreme 500w PSU $70
Generic case $30
Total = $565
Just sayin'. _________________

Wow. You're brain really is wired completely different from mine. I really think the Dual Shock controller analogue sticks are rubbish for FPS gaming. They are fat, circular and imprecise. (Yes, I'm aware PC gamies that the mouse/keyboard is the ultimate )
Anyway, Live wins overall for community/friends based gaming. I don't have a decent PC so I do all my gaming online for multiplatform games over Live. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I hear what you are saying Passa about the PC, but there is some merit to playing games on the couch, with a massive HD tv and tunned sound system. I know you can emulate that with a PC, nice monitor, sound system etc but sitting at a desk (after working at a desk all day) to play my games is not something that really appeals to me.
That and most of my friends have consoles anyway. _________________ Shin J Leon.

You do realise you can connector your computer to your HDTV and surround sound set up as well. I myself play on the PC, better controls, more friends, options, communications and mods etc.

COD 1 & 2 on pc
COD 3 - 360 (was only released on consoles)
COD 4 360/PS3
COD WAW 360
I prefer FPS on consoles these days, as my crap computer can't run many games past 2006.

ps3 of course, cant stand to sit at a computer for long periods of time, and absolutely hate using a mouse and keyboard.
360 dont have no more.
and so it leaves me with the ps3, and i love the ps controllers, but thats probably more to do with just being comfortable with them, from playing on them for so long. _________________

PC all the way. I'm too much of an elitist jerk to play them on consoles (ha ha ha). That and because of my competitive nature, I need my absolute precision etc. Gaming Mouse ftw!

PC for all the aforementioned reasons.
I will add, however, that once I was at a friend's place, and while waiting for other friends we were playing CoD 4 on his 360.
I couldn't aim for beans.
Seriously, I just couldn't do any sort of precision shots even though whoever I was aiming for was totally looking the other way. I eventually resorted to only turning left and right (at least I was pretty good at that), and if they weren't in my crosshairs, I'd walk around so that they were.
I'unno, maybe my left thumb just isn't accustomed to actually being used in some sort of coordinated fashion. _________________

Now before I played Killzone 2 I would of said BANG PC ftw, screw console FPS it was NEVER EVER meant to be (worst experience with CoD: Big Red One on PS2). Now I realise the control "weighted" system is alot different with killzone 2, but I have grown to love that game on my PS3, it is quite rewarding getting those kills with the controller I must say as opposed to the simplicity of the mouse and keyboard. Anyway different game I know, totally different to CoD4.
Back to the point, PC for sure still despite what I said ;D. First fps I played online on PC was Red Faction, since then I have been a PC Gaymer, and I believed FPS should ONLY be on PC until killzone 2.
CoD4 for PC for all previous reasons mentioned - precision, fast aiming, easier to communicate, easier to get into and find populated servers. Modern Warfare 2 = PC for me.
If people just stopped see'ing as getting new computers as such gigantic burdens and do a bit of research, like many converts thus far they would see the light of PC FPS gaming. $1000 will get you a nice system that could run anything at a decent FPS until as said before, 3 or 4 years down the track. _________________ xfire = andylulz
