A guy at work said he heard that it was going to be paid in order of postcode. So if you guys in NSW are getting it first then maybe that rumor is true _________________

Mine's not arrived yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting it to pay off a bunch of travel expenses later in the year. Woo! _________________

I did a tax return last year and got all the tax I paid back, I heard that becuase I got a full refund the stimulus package won't come to me despite earning (well) under the limit and doing a tax return... does anyone know if this is how it works? _________________

Yeah technically you didn't pay any tax, so you won't get the stimulus. On the ato website there is a tool to see if you will get the stimulus package. _________________

I believe that is correct. You need to have actually paid tax to get the stimulus, and not had it all refunded. For me, it's touch and go, not sure if I'll get the stimulus or not, i might be just over the threshold or just under (I think the threshold is around 11,000). And my refund came by cheque, so if I do get it, I'll be one of the last.
EDIT: Damned ninjas.

Son of a... that's dissapointing. I could have had quite a bit of my car paid off with that $900, and the website won't even let me use the calculator due to being under 18

If you get back ALL your tax, no stimulus. If you get back only some of your tax, you get the stimulus.

I don't quite understand why those who earned such a small income - enough to warrant their tax being returned in full - miss out, effectively being punished for not earning enough money. Surely this money would be better suited given to those who don't usually have the opportunity to buy things aside from necessities.

Wayne Swan's reasoning behind it was that it'd be "too hard" to work out who to give it to, as some earning under $11k would need it, but others apparently wouldn't.

IMO Wayne Swan couldn't be stuffed doing the extra work because it is of no benefit to him at all. I mean what's $900 to a politician?
EDIT: Spelled Wayne wrong.

Rampage you may have got money back from your tax return but you still would have paid tax (just more than you needed to throughout the year). _________________

I know you're not Wayne Swan, but in what situation would a person earning that much not need it? Did he elaborate? Isn't this money - albeit not as much - going to high earners as well?

Just to help those who think there is a pattern to the payments.
Location: Wynnum North, Brisbane
Payment Recieved: 20/04/09
Basically you can also just wait til one of your close family gets it, then you will surely have it if not that day then very soon.
