Good review! I really liked the Wii version so was keen to see how this turned out...might wait a few months perhaps!

I started playing this for a bit today, and I'm really liking it. The Don's view is a really cool concept, and I'd like to see it in more sandbox games. The other thing I really like is the melee system, it's pretty cool with realistic controls. Maybe too realistic, it was pretty shocking to strangle a goon to death by gripping L1 + R1 with your index fingers, and pushing in on L3/R3 with your thumbs and being able to feel their pulse via the rumble in the controller... Good sixaxis implementation though, where when you're holding onto someone, you can thrust forward on the controller to throw them into a wall.
Very good and brutal game so far (check out the Tommy Gun execution when they're kneeling), I'm looking forward to playing some more (if only UT3 would let me!) _________________

Call me a sheltered loser but I have never seen the godfather movies, are they good? I have seen king of new york that is the only gangsta movie I have ever seen. This game lioks like it has primitive graphics. Maybe its better in motion but this looks like a disapointment on the graphics front.

Please do yourself a favour and watch the first two Godfather films - indeed, you should watch the third film also... it's weaker than it's forebearers but still better than most movies playing in theatres nowadays.

@gelstyles, but theres something you should know about the Godfather films, they are not Michael Bay/Scorcese type action films. They are traditional and have slow pace and dramatic build up. If you don't like that sort of movie yet wait till your old enough to appreciate it.

I have seen some atrocious reviews for this game. I think i best be giving it a shot for myself to make up my own mind, as i like to do with everygame. _________________

gelstyles:
the godfather trilogy, especially the first movie, are some of the most universally renowned films, and a cornerstone to crime films and pop culture.
for many people it's a choice for best movie. _________________

I picked this up yesterday in a super sale.
Good review and I agree with most of the things you said. It's a topflight mix of action and strategy and I don't think it's as bad as most of the reviews are saying.
7 seems a fair score though. Good stuff. _________________
