No ****, because they're differnt drugs, it's why some drugs are medical, some are legal, some are (wrongfully) illegal like pot and some are illegal for a damm good reason (**** like PCP and crack) You can't take one example and use it as a reason to be against all drugs. It's stupid and ignorant.

i think that was me who said that, and no, im not talking about weed gets you high, acid makes you trip, etc, etc. im talking about it taking a toll on your body.
eg - acid. you need to be mentally strong, as in if you see pixies telling you to jump off the huge mushroom which reminds you of a 100 ft building that you WORK IN while you are WORKING, you have to think, ok its not there.
i have a couple of friends who do acid, one is completely fucked, i was prepared, he got pushed into it and now he is absolutely FUCKED in the head!
its like alcohol, if a person who is 200kg drinks the same amount of alcohol compared to someone who is 60kg, will there be a different who is more affected? yes. but thats short term, im talking more long term.
| Charly wrote: | | It can also permanently decrease ones ability to concentrate, retain information or learn new things. Not particularly trivial. |
i fall into this category, smoking pot made my brain go downhill when i was taking antibiotics at the same time, i was just doing it and never really thought about what i was doing.
and the things you mentions charly, trust me, it sucks so much at school with the above. everything distracts you, so you really have to put your mind to it. _________________

it can? wow that sounds more like something out of a propaganda poster, but in my experiences it has increased my memory in some places |
It does lower sperm count, that's about the only thing that it's confirmed to do.
As for the learning, some reports show that learning is increased as is memory recall, others show that it's not.

I find it hard to believe that people are actually trying to defend drug users
As I said who gives a shit what they do to themselves, it's the people around them and the community that are left to clean up the pieces, It's people around them and the community that get their stuff stolen and their homes broken in to, it's the community who have to clear away their syringes, it's the kids who can't play in parks because a filthy junkie couldn't dispose of a used syringe.....shall I continue?
I can bet most of the people giving their opinions on "Dont be judgemental" have never lived anywhere but higher class preppy areas....I can tell you right now coming home and wondering if your TV is still there isn't the greatest feeling. I am so sick of hearing how hard junkies have it, Nobody made them become worthless scum it was a route they took themselves.
I can guarantee you if you came up to Gosford and saw the hoards of junkies it would change your mind, Most pushing young kids in prams or off their heads and pregnant......yeah we need more people like this in society
EDIT: Charly instead of neging why don't you explain to us the benefits that illicit drugs have on the community? I bet you can't think of one _________________ Kocobo Je' Srbija!

The issue with your opinion is that you're not making the distinction between 'junkies' and recreational drug users.
I have spent all my life in areas deemed dangerous - drugs, murder, ****. I have been held at knife point by a junkie at the local train station, I have been 'mugged' twice and other things I don't wish to discuss. Sure I'm not a fan of those people, but their behaviour in no way represents the cat having a joint at home on a Saturday Night at home with some mates and music. Your perspective is coming across narrow-minded.
Now get the hell off my high horse.

Negs cute deep huh? I take my time to post a reply. What of it?
In response to your question, I ask of the benefits of alcohol and cigarettes on the community? If I was all "Yay Marajuana! Let's all smoke pot", then perhaps I might try to argue the benefits of marijuana use on communities. However, this is not my stance. Evidently you haven't bothered to read my posts. How about you actually read the posts in the thread prior to making us endure such irrational responses. _________________

dude, not all drugs are just to get smacked up and crash cars, some people need it to get over stress, issues in there life or pain.
and my uncle lives in gosford, its bad and yes that might of been from abusing/addiction, but just because you see one person on drugs, you cant come to the conclusion that if you take drugs your bad. _________________

I have to agree with you about Gosford being dodgy Mafja, but it isnt just because of drugs. I do agree that a lot of the problems come from drugs but think about the actual people. Not meaning to be a prick but the problem there is that its full of low income welfare junkies who happen to take drugs. Drug or no drug their still the same person.
Anyhow Ive done pot, been there done that. Didnt do much for me and havent touched it since. If you want to smoke it, your choice. _________________

Hrm hrm.
I myself have never done any sort of illicit drugs, heck, I don't even drink. I am smarter than that, I like to stay in control.
But do I shun people who decide to take drugs, either for recreaction, or as an addiction?
No. Why? Because it is their choice.
If their habbit starts to affect me directly, then yes, I do have a problem with it.
I try to look behind all that, and at the person themselves.
I find it a little dishearting that some people won't even associate with people who decide to try these sort of things.
Some of my best mates take drugs occaisionly.
Each to his own I guess. _________________

I'm surprised the thread has made it to five pages without scoring a lock.
I have a close friend who smokes pot.. he's a normal guy like everyone else. It's his decision, I know his father does as well so he has that influence, but I'm not about to tell him what he should or shouldn't do.
Ultimately it is an individual choice. So long as it isn't harming others around them, I guess it isn't my problem. Much like with religion, I don't think one person's views should be forced upon another's. However, this works both ways, I find it reprehensible for a drug user to influence or pressure others into doing drugs as well. _________________

Oh Christ, here we go...again.
| mafija wrote: | | I want to smoke a joint I will smoke one" yeah that's real great, Does it make you feel tough or do you just do it to fit in? |
I don't know about this one, let me call my friends.
| mafija wrote: | | Most people try weed when they are teenagers but kind of grow up and become adults and not touch it again which obviously isn't the case for you. Your going to be a 50 year old dope head....real cool |
I know a number of adults who continue their recreational use of cannabis to relief the stress of having two jobs, raising a family and still trying to fit in time to finish that renovation work. But then again obviously you don't know the real world stresses people face and just want to smack people with a 100 year old arbitrary law that was created based on myths and misconceptions.
| mafija wrote: | | My whole point of reply to this thread initially was to question why people needed to announce they take drugs on a public forum where children frequent |
I don't think I've seen anyone under twelve post on here, even then I'd imagine that our mature approach to the topic isn't going to adversely affect their thoughts on it.
The reason we announce it is because it opens up a rational line of conversation to discuss the topic is a mature and open-minded manner.
| mafija wrote: | | It doesn't make you spectacular or unique it makes you a sad person who needs to try to be cool to fit in. |
Just waiting for my friends to message me back with a response, just bare with me on this one.
| mafija wrote: | | Just imagined if I went and tagged all over your house and used the excuse of "Well I felt like it" it's kind of similar no? |
No. Again there are a wide range of reasons why, some people have listed them in this very thread.
| mafija wrote: | | Drug users are scum and should be wiped out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
The reasoning of every dictator, despot and mass-murder in the lat 500 years.
| mafija wrote: | | Nothing sadder than seeing an adult who thinks they are "the raddest cat on the block" because they go and buy $10 worth of bush weed and think they are snoop dogg |
I'm cool because some nights, I buy some cannabis, go home and ,by myself hit up the bong for a few hours, eat a large amount of food and laugh a little too much at Jim Carey movies.
I'm so cool huh?
| mafija wrote: | | Oh and you don't think that pot has adverse affects on your brain? It is more addictive mentally than heroin, it forms holes in your brain, it makes you impotent(May not be such a bad thing for you) and generally makes you a petty loser. |
Pretty much any medical association with any shred of credibility would tell you otherwise. Protip: links and evidence would come in handy here!
| mafija wrote: | | Are you stupid or do you just like the attention, Cigarettes aren't mind altering and I doubt there have been many cases of people stealing old ladies handbags to buy a pack of ciggies. |
I haven't heard of any cases of stoned people stealing old ladies handbags either. Not the mention that ciggarettes are poison, they directly contribute toward every major disease and cancer in Australia today.
| mafija wrote: | | P.S charly I don't bother to read your ranting **** because I have found you usually have nothing valid to say but rather just talk for the point of being heard. |

@ Mafija You are a tool... I have now gone and negged which i planned to never do for I always believe in everyone's right to an opinion. This is regarding the post you have now taken off which makes you look scared. You can dish out but not take it huh? Chicken. You started it and I am happy that Charly didn't see what you wrote. She shared something very private and you showed no respect and didn't even try to understand her point of view when you expect her to listen to yours. STFU and go away unless you like the negs and crave attention.
Anyway I'm with a lot of people on this. Each to their own. Who am I to judge how they live their life? they know the dangers cos it's always in the media etc. Drugs have effected me in my immediate family. My brother fell into the evils of drugs because he couldn't cope with the loss of the love of his life. The only way he could feel anything or nothing, that was his escape. It was hard to see him like that, but somehow he saw the light and now is on the road to recovery. I think a lot of people on here need to expand their minds and think of how the users feel... Don't judge them... Most of them, i'm sure, don't judge you.

"Drugs are bad" advocates really have a closed minded view.
For one, how you could class substances like pot alongside substances like heroin/cocaine etc is beyond me. "Drugs" refers to anything that alters your brains functions. Most things you put into your mouth are drugs.

Just because I don't have 5000 posts and no contact with sunlight whatsoever, doesn't mean I don't have a valid point.
Ever had a sugar rush before? Yes that's your brain working overtime to make up for the excess energy you've ingested. Cut all sugars/carbohydrates out of your diet and you're going to be quite lathargic. Point taken?
Merriam Webster Dictionary:
Drug - a substance intended to affect the structure or function of the body.

Explicitly they're not really drugs, they're metabolic reactions that cause your body to perform slightly differently. To be fair though the distinction of a drug is blurred at best.

This thread is about pot, I would like to know why in the fuck potheads would be leaving needles around a park?
I think if you drink or smoke, you should have zero negativity towards weed since Alcohol and Tobacco are so much worst. Just because something is illegal it doesn't make it completely wrong.
Weed is not some crazy drug which makes you do stupid shit, it makes you relaxed, chilled, giggly while keeping pretty good control of yourself. _________________

I think it's a General understanding that once you do Pot your views and beliefs change, ie you go into a downward spiral.
You try pot, you like pot, it doesn't do anything seriously bad, therfore suddenly all the other drugs mustn't be so bad either.
You try Ecstasy, it freaks you out but you can still cope with it, you need something stronger.
It's just a downward spiral imo, once you'
