I just don't understand how you can blame someone else for you making the mistakes. Fair enough they shouldn't run to the boss but nobody should have to pick up the slack for a worker who keeps screwing up......It unfair to expect your co workers to do so, Trust me I have had the arse end of having to fix lazy mistakes and people who just don't care

There's a difference between mistakes that force someone else to pick up slack and "trivial" mistakes that Ravenous referenced. At no stage did she say that she was blaming this other person for her mistakes.

There's also a difference in professional conduct in the workplace of talking to someone who is having trouble and making mistakes, versus running to the boss to complain (seemingly out of spite from a clash of personalities rather than a genuine concern about the mistakes).

Yeah the difference is the person making the mistakes uses that word to make themselves feel better

She isn't complaining about the boss knowing about the mistakes. She's complaining about the coworker doing it purely out of spite and trying to ruin her reputation.

How do you know it was out of spite? How do you know it wasn't because they were sick of having to pick up slack?

Read the whole post. She obviously made an april's fool joke that the other coworker didn't like and so they then proceeded to go and try to ruin their reputation with the boss.

Now your just making assumptions.
My main point is why get crappy at someone for reporting something to the boss which is by her own words true?

The problem is that the person obviously knew about the mistakes which presumably have happened over a period of time, never said anything, but as soon as something happened that annoyed them they went and bitched about it.

It was the complaint, it was the pettiness of it that has ticked her off.

What are we talking about here, sorry I don't tend to follow lines of conversations which have been quoted more than four times. Seriously guys just quote the person above you.

What pissed me off? Someone in my house didn't close my car's sunroof properly but slid the cloth shade thing over it. So when it was raining today I started to get drips falling onto my gearknob. I looked up to see that the roof was wet. Thinking WTF is this I got out in the pouring rain at a service station and checked it quickly. Not wanting to get wet.

But the time I got to uni the rain had cleared but the drips become a constant stream of water when I parked. When I opened up the shade, BAM water drops all over the front two car seats. Apparently someone just pressed the button to close the sunroof but didn't press the button again to tilt the sunroof up a bit and thus seal it.

When I got in the car to get home the car smelt of damp and the seats were wet. Someone's getting told off for this shit.

Does it really matter that the person went and told the boss out of spite (Im not sure thats the case) at the end of the day it was ravenous who was in the wrong not the co worker.
Does it ever occur to you that people just want to go to work, get paid to support their families and not have to deal with other peoples lazyness, lack of work ethic or just the common decency to do what they are paid for? Seriously think yourself lucky that you got a talking to and not fired.......If you keep making mistakes (And i mean this in the nicest way) you don't deserve the job over someone who can actually do it

Yes that's all well and good in the world of gumdrop rainbows and blissful communism. Though this is the real world where some people get this idea that they're better than everyone else and thus they have the right to dob in people who make an honest mistake.
I do my work with all honesty and to the best of my ability, I still screw up and if I'm ever called out on it I'd own up to it. Though I don't need some workmate dickhead thinking that he's the bee-knees of the workplace dobbing me in for brownie points.
If someone ever pulled that shit on me I'd pull them aside and ask them why they decided to be a deceptive prick. Honestly stick by your workmates, treat them right and they'll make your job easier and it gives you a bit of leverage against your boss. None of this whining to the boss about your co-workers so you can stick your nose up his arse.

My PE teacher. She was treating me like a criminal because I didn't bring my money for sport, which I only didn't bring because we've never been playing away for three weeks in a row before, and apparently I'm supposed to check the sport roster on the PE staffroom door, which is printed in invisible ink on the window, apparently, because an actual sheet of paper with text on it doesn't materialise until recess of the day that we have sport (we go away at lunch), and they won't let us owe because last year all the deadbeats cost the school thousands of dollars. So, there I was, sitting in between a jigger and a b**** for an hour, because apparently, sitting in a room for an hour copying the sport rules (which is choccers full of grammatical errors) is a good substitute for physical activity.

it really depends on how things were handled.

i mean, i've made mistakes at work, and i will make more, but i expect to be told about them asap and yes, i feel sh**ty about it, but overall i'm generally glad that the error has been identified, rectified, and i know how not to make the mistake again.
i don't know the culture of Rav's workplace, but everywhere i've worked, when mistakes are identified, generally the person who makes the discovery lets the person making the mistakes know and things are fixed from there. often it's my supervisor who makes the ID, but there have been others.

the only time it goes higher is if the person making the mistake keeps making the same mistake, despite being told. there were actually 2 people fired from here recently due to this lack of acknowledgement of their mistakes. (this doesn't mean a mistake that was made from the beginning, and identified as a huge cock-up due to never being picked up on in a timely fashion, but rather the same mistake made consistantly, identified, corrected, and made again.)

this has nothing to do with Rav's gender either. it could've been Spanca who'd had this happen to him, and i'd think the same, likewise, one of the people fired from my work was female, and i was happy to see her go, as it made my work easier knowing i didn't need to fix their issues too.

so, no idea if Rav's nemesis only just identified a compound issue, or if they'd been holding it back for retribution, but to me, it sounded like these were mistakes from working, identified and corrected, and then even though they had been corrected, they were brought up later as a "f**k you" to Rav.
maybe i'm wrong, but that's how i read the story.

Hate to tell all of PALGN off here but WE ARGUE OVER NOTHING. Arguments have spanned pages long and it is always the most trivial irrelevant thing ever. I feel sorry for Dani, I feel sorry when B3NBO lost his dog, and I felt sorry for the way ANDYB got treated on here by a few of the members but these situations all spawned arguments because some people couldn't shut their mouths. Yes I'm now guilty of this too.

You have to be working in in a really crap or critical importance job to get fired for making a mistake. I broke a $500 padlock to a high security area in my second week on the job, last month I wiped a hard disk clean of data that I wasn't meant to. In February I delegated a task I shouldn't of and have caused three or four months of extra work and I still haven't been fired icon_biggrin.gif

I'm sure I could find more mistakes too. Cheer up Dani, you can always bash Alex if you're feeling down.

I agree with mafija.

Ok, not really, I just wanted to get under Ravenous' skin. Paybacks a bitch.

I suppose I should bring something else to this thread other then my hatred for Ravenous. Wall Sealer, it sticks like hell, no amount of rubbing is getting it off, I have white speckles and blobs all up my arms and all over my face.

Many un-intentional sexual references in this post.

EDIT: Just found this post

Correct me if I am wrong, didn't we all respect your problems when you were learning japanese (which you completely overreacted to) and when you were trying to lose weight? Me thinks you should shut your mouth.

Ok. What the fuck. Where are you getting this stuff from. You've just accused Vervain of making assumptions, but your whole argument stems from them. I won't even bother refuting your comments because you've gone off on a completely different tangent.

And what the fuck at you too Itachi.

EDIT: And I can completely empathise with Ravenous and having a low self esteem. Small things can cut you up immensely and despite how much you tell yourself it was nothing, you still feel terrible and worthless. The both of you can get fucked.

Pod EDIT: Swear filter dodge removed.

Don't worry Dani, I'm sure this will blow over, it sucks to have people do this to you at work since where I work politics is a big thing and I see alot of people having to watch themselves and then you see the groups form and then you have to be careful of who you sit with when there's a function icon_annoyed.gif

anyway, unless someone else has mentioned this before palgn to me is a community that will always be there for you. So never feel alone, thou that wasn't the complaint.. but if you DID! then you can refer to this part.
