Ghost In The Shell is ok. Liked the 'Stand Alone Complex' the TV series based on it, better.
My list:
1 - Spirited Away (Easy to watch, but with plenty of depth)
2 - Cowboy Beebop The Movie (They've had better stories in most of the tv series episodes, but it's Beebop, so it's great anyway.)
3 - Metropolis (Great rework of the original movie. Wonderful animation.)
4 - Grave of the Fireflies (It's dust in my eye! Honestly!)
5 - Laputa: Castle in the Sky (Studio Ghibli again - always a winner)
Fav Series:
1 - Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Gu (The funniest thing you will ever see. Beyond explaination.)
2 - Serial Experiment Lain (Watch it at least 5 times before you judge it - it does start to make sense.)
2 - Cowboy Beebop (Duh)
3 - Evangelion (It has to come here somewhere, doesn't it? Not the Movies and last 2 episodes of the series - we can try and say nice things about them, but there was really no need to do that to a perfectly decent series )
4 - Pokemon! (Just joking)

My favourite films:
1 - Akira
2 - Transformers
3 - Princess Mononoke
4 - Ninja Scroll
5 - Metropolis
Fav Series:
1 - Gundam Wing
2 - Cowboy Bebop
3 - Transformers
4 - Tenchi Muyo & Universe (hated Tenchi In Tokyo at least what I decided to watch)
5 - Dragon Ball Z (until they decided to give Trunks long hair, Future Trunks was cool until then and the story was slightly believable)
Special shout out to:
Outlaw Star (hilarious at times, but I really hate the voices)
Blue Sub 6 (great film or short series, whatever you want to call it, the main bad guy made me want to shove sharp objects towards my ear drum though)
Next movie I want to see: Uh...Vampire Hunter D
Next series: Love Hina (got some of the manga, which is hilarious, so I want to see if the anime is any good)
Cowboy Bebop movie. Having now seen it I have to agree the plot wasn't as strong as most of the series, the series seems so movie like though, so it just seems like a slow episode of the series, but it continues on (that bit on the river bank with Spike and Jet, that would probably have been where the series would have ended). Anyway I need to see it again to decide wether my favourites need shifting around.

Movies
Porco Rosso
Ghost in the Shell
Patlabor 2
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Mononoke Hime <- only cause I saw it in the cinema's subbed, quite an experience
Series
Vision of Escaflowne
Macross Plus
Last EXILE
Planetes
Cowboy Bebop <- only cause Keiko Nobumoto wrote the better episode storylines and Yoko Kanno composed the music Otherwise it'd be a toss-up between Great Teacher Onizuka and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

I know a lot of people don't like Lupin the 3rd, but when I'm in a bad mood, it always seems to cheer me up, with all the corny dialouge. _________________
