While watching Watchmen this afternoon I saw the new trailer for the upcoming Star Trek remake and couldn't help but notice that Zachary Quinto who plays Sylar on Heroes is the actor portrating Dr Spock in Star Trek. I'm not a trekkie myself but this has made me a little excited about the movie, also John Cho who played Harold Lee in the Harold & Kumar movies in the trailer and I believe he is portraying Lt Sulu as well.

very old news.

but since you don't seem to be in the loop: Simon Pegg plays Montgomery Scott (the ship's engineer - of "Beam us up, Scotty" fame) too.

No, Sylar is Mister Spock. Dr. Benjamin Spock was an American pediatrician who wrote a bunch of parenting and childcare books in the 80s, Mr. Spock was a Vulcan who was the first mate on board the Enterprise.

I think he'll make a good Spock. He looks a little more metrosexual than Leonard Nimoy, but when the guy they've got playing Kirk looks like James Marsden's little sister it doesn't really matter.

Sylar at a Star Trek convention.

This seems as good a place as any to post the awesome new trailer (different to the one I got with Watchmen anyway).

It's gunna drive me insane.

I also just saw the trailer for the first time while watching Watchmen and I've got to say I was pretty impressed. Funnily enough I've never watched any of Star Trek despite hearing so much about it, maybe this will be the film that draws me in. I don't know if Star Trek is meant to have humorous moments but Its going to be hard not to laugh when John Cho is on screen.. Love the casting icon_wink.gif

neither am i, but it's hardly been a secret.

even, the cinema posters have been up for at least 6 months with Zachery Quinto as the central person in the image.

My local cinemas have not had any posters at all for Star Trek and the first trailer I saw over a year ago only had the shell of the Enterprise in it

Any idea when the release date is in australia?

I won't go the first few days as the die hard trekkies will be there in droves!

I might go to the cinema though and see if any of them dress up for the occasion icon_smile.gif

I saw the trailer for the first time last night. Looks pretty damn awesome! I've never actually watched any Star Trek before so wasn't sure if I'd bother with this, but after seeing the trailer I'm sold. The only issue I had was that the cast all seem so young. I guess they are meant to be fresh out of the training academy but I worry that it might be too teeny... Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I've never ever seen anything to do with Star Trek before, but I must say that trailer looks kinda interesting.

i saw the trailer when i watched watchmen as well. i knew there would be a trek movie comming out, but not being a big trekkie fan i didn't really follow the news.

when sylar came on screen (yes, he will always be sylar to me no matter what) at first i thought i saw wrong, but then when they showed him again i was like "OMG WATCH OUT!! HE WANTS TO EAT YOUR BRAINS!! D: "

yea... it was hard enough to watch him in 24 without thinking he was about to kill someone just b/c he wanted to feel more special... this movie will likewise be the same. think the below pic posted by BurnZ agrees with me

So is this an actual Star Trek movie or a comedy remake?

The cast makes me think the latter but I've no idea.
