Quote:
It's official: With an introduction of "together again," Blink-182 confirmed that they are back in the Blink business at the Grammy Awards Sunday night (February 8) when they appeared onstage together for the first time in four years.

Emerging to sounds of their 1999 hit "What's My Age Again," bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker — wearing a sling on his injured left arm — and estranged guitarist Tom DeLonge walked out together, with Hoppus joking, "Isn't it great to see the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder back together again?" after the unlikely pairing performed a medley of the Bros' "Burning Up" and Wonder's "Superstition." Barker added, "We used to play music together, and we decided we're going to play music together again," as DeLonge stood awkwardly to the side. Hoppus also yelled, "Blink-182 is back!"

The band's official Web site also confirmed the good news, with a banner that read simply, "Summer 2009." A message from the band explained, "Hi. We're Blink-182. This past week there've been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy. Summer 2009. Thanks and get ready."

Hopes were high for the announcement when, on Thursday, it was revealed that the trio would be presenting an award at the Grammys. And they got even higher when Angels & Airwaves guitarist David Kennedy appeared to let slip in a Web chat that same day that Blink were going to record an album this year.

Pretty awesome news, I loved a lot of their music in my teenage years, and still listen to them every now and again.

Only album that really captivated me was their self-titled (last one). Don't know why, but i could listen to it for weeks on end!! If they go back to this then i will gladly praise them as almighty!!

Holy crap. I don't know what to think. Pretty good considering the side-projects were so lame, or at least AVA was.... icon_confused.gif

It'll be interesting to see how they progress without Jerry Finn.

Awesome news. Another person here who bought anything and everything of theirs. It's such a shame that the last time they toured here (in Newcaslte), they half-assed it and played some of their hits as one big song. Good news, is that they'll probably tour here again and it will be better, because I'll go to Sydney to see them.

IMO 'What's my age?' was the lowest point for the band. Around the era of 'Josie' and 'Dammit' was by far the best.

i'm 20, i'm only really old enough to know enema of the state (which must have come out in grade 6? for me?) and take off your pants and jacket. those were my two favourite albums.

some of the old songs are awesome too, particularly M&Ms.

Sorry i had to say that but for some reason Cheshire Cat is just horrible.
But i love all their songs apart from most of Cheshire Cat,

Blink has been my #1 band in all my life now that i think about it..
Anyways apparently they broke up cose tom was being an emo prick

Anyone else find the start of couresel to be just awesome 100% of the time?

I liked everything from Flyswatter to Dude range I really like.
Enema of the state was alright, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket had some sweet tunes too.

I'm not really that keen on the Self Titled album but it's still 'aight.

I always thought Tom 'Found God' or something like that.
Anywho if anything sucks balls it's AVA.

AVA - the adventure
Is a good song , the one and only

Boxcar Racer - Letters to god
Is also a decent song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqivo_-ox68

Boxcar racer is blink-183 icon_biggrin.gif, its auctally blinks second band for songs that didnt exactly fit into blink but were written, mainly tom + travis, I like the song.

Weird thing is , Letters to god sounds like a song that fits quite nicely into blink 182... Dunno

Ok so it seems

Blink - Travis , Tom , Mark
AVA - Tom
BoxCar racer - Travis , Tom
+44 - Travis , Mark

I dont like +44 so much but i like their music vid for heart stops beating its so good , camera swings and there is nothing there, when it swings back theres like people jumping.

+44 started to play blink songs without tom which was interesting but abit empty.

Anyways Blink-182 4eva icon_biggrin.gif

Well apparently tom didnt even talk to mark and travis anymore only tom manager talked , so they broke up

Odd he just stopped talking to them and it seems he got fed up and wanted to be the star of attention and made his own band.

Because if you watch some live shows you will notice mark is awesome and always bags tom out. ( auctally pretty funny )

EPIC BUMP

So the new album, "Neighborhoods", came out on the 27th of last month.

Just started listening to it tonight and so far I like it.

Sounds like Blink's back!

Nice mix of uptempo punk rock, the Blink we all know and love with some slower (not too slow) songs, like the album is also taking inspiration from the same (re. "Miss You") that inspired their last album, "Blink-182".

Video for Up All Night is a bit typical, not of Blink, but bands in general. Would of loved some of that theatrics from the guys we seen in their other videos.

What do others think?

you know, I loved blink, they were my fav band. But I think I have out-grown then now. Sure ill still listen to them for old times sake and I bought their new album, but IMO its not overly memorable. Maybe its because I've matured I dunno.

I will shout out to 'Stay Together for the Kids, Carosel, Whats my age again, Rock Show, First Date, Miss You and a few others as great songs though.

After listening to this album, I feel like their is a slight twist of modern electro/dance type music in a couple of songs. It makes me wonder if this stuff was put in there by Blink as an experiment, or if some producer asked them to chuck it in to sell more records. I kind of hope it was Blink's decision to add that stuff, producers should mostly stay away from the song writing process in my opinion. Still, there are a couple of really good songs on here. Not as good as some of their earlier stuff, I think the slight touch of anger is gone, but still pretty good.

Reall enjoying their new album - took about 4 play throughs to get into it bit it majorly grows on you.

Not as good as their last self titled album (their best album) but otherwise good comeback.
