What do you guys think about the various clones that are popping up?

I bought Guitar Praise (Christian Rock) a couple weeks back and really like it. My only downer is that it's PC/Mac only, but that's very minor. I also like how the lyrics scroll on the screen while you play - dunno why RB/GHWT don't do that when you're playing, they've obviously already got the lyrics in there.

Then there's Popstar Guitar which I've been tracking down. While the lame-ass reviewer over at IGN seems to think that all developers must use them as their one and only point of reference for track listings for their musical games, I know a number of teens (and even parents for that matter) who will find the track list for this a lot more palatable and appealing.

· Thnks Fr Th Mmrs by Fall Out Boy
· Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy
· Misery Business by Paramore
· Dirty Little Secret by All-American Rejects
· Move Along by All-American Rejects
· Shut Up and Drive by Rihanna
· S.O.S by Jonas Brothers
· See You Again by Miley Cyrus
· Wake Up Call by Maroon 5
· Makes Me Wonder by Maroon 5
· All The Small Things by Blink 182
· Welcome To My Life by Simple Plan
· When I'm Gone by 3 Doors Down
· It's Not My Time by 3 Doors Down

The thing that shits me is that the IGN reviewer was so annoyed that he had to deal with music that wasn't his thing that I can't really tell whether the game itself is any good.

Probably because it emphasises the implied preaching throughout the lyrics.

You just know that a game about Christian Rock is going to try their best to force more Pro-Christianity stuff down the throat of a clueless player. icon_confused.gif

When you say scrolls through the lyrics, do you mean like, when the singer isn't playing? Because I would really like an option for that in RB, since if I'm playing guitar / drums by myself on a song I like I generally end up singing it too.

Generally you just plug in another controller then and use your headset. icon_razz.gif

Edit: Here's a vid from Guitar Praise. >_>

But I suck at singing. If I actually do the singer's part in game, I will inevitably fail. And that would suck.

Oh, I know why Guitar Praise does it - I just don't know why RB/GHWT don't give you the option since the lyrics are there anyhow.

Yep - see the vid Eyce posted a link to.

Yeah, but that requires you to sing otherwise you're gonna fail out. I'd like to see the words to sing along when I want to but not have it affect me. icon_smile.gif

I only have Rock Band 1. And I still want the challenge of the guitar part or whatever it is I'm playing, so no fail doesn't work (unless you can set vocals to no fail and have other parts as normal. Can you? That would be pretty cool).

I do have RB2 - doesn't No Fail stop you progressing through your career? If not, then I'll turn it on tonight because I want to move up to the next level of difficulty but don't want to lose fans.

Not sure of that, I personally haven't used it because I just mostly quickplay or do Battle of the Bands.

Nah, No Fail is a global setting - it's either on for all or off. Pretty sure it stops you from playing 'Tour' mode, too.

Absolutely perfect for when you've got a bunch of boozey people around who've not played GH/RB before and/or are entirely tone-deaf icon_wink.gif

Allow me to pose a situation.

In my wish to convert from Rock Band/GHWT PS3 to Rock Band/GHWT 360 I've realised I may be able to do the following.

Use my PS3 Rock Band mic
Use my GH3 360 guitar

Buy drums and buy the games.

That would work, right?

If the mic is usb it should be cool, otherwise the xbox headset works if your desperate.

If you want the realistic feel of a Bass Pedal, go for the Destroyer Pedal, Omega Pedal or if you feel really cheap, rivet a sheet of metal onto the pedal, although that makes the hinge more likely to break.

I personally play Heel-Up with all the pressure going down at the top of the pedal. Works well for quick kicks.

After 3 hours play all day (only just bought it today) the peadl is now broken. This sucks... I forked out $200 for the instruments not including the game. Was so pleased with it until i had the snapping of plastic underneath my foot..... Got no choice but to invest in one of those pedals. Could claim warranty but i'll only break it again. Damn All That Remains and their DLC!!!

Jesus christ, I have a heavy foot for Bass (So my parents and friends say) but I'm just thankful my play style doesn't involve pressing the pedal in the middle.

If you're desperate just go for the metal plate mod, it's fairly cheap and if you break a hinge then you'll definitely need to go the way of a Destroyer or Omega Pedal.

Think i will get the destroyer anyways, mainly because i love the drumkits for these games the most an its usually the first thing to break due to how often i use it. Bit price being around the 130-170 mark posted, but hopefully worth it. Also looking at a extra bass pedal plus a splitter to use double kick because of the extensive footwork involved with the more heavier songs.

toolman I know this is really disheartening, but any song with double bass in Rock Band only charts one leg's work, I.e. half the notes.

Hell, This Calling on Expert gives you small breaks on the pedal during the Chorus. icon_cry.gif

What are the odds (regardless of whether this is the release date) of the Australian Rock Band 2 coming with something - anything - to make up for the delay? Any? Any at all?

well the foot pedal looks better, but ah yeah, I heard they were going to waive the fee to export the tracks from RB1 for us originally, but I doubt it. Oh and i paid but thats obviously before it's released.

I'd say no chance. That release date is most likely the date that they will have more stock of the UK or US version of the game. An official Rock Band 2 AU release date would be big news.

I gave up waiting and purchased a PAL copy from GAME UK.

Judging from what's printed on the UK Discs, the Australian Version will probably have sweet f**k all included.

EA's just releasing this dead in the water.

Again.
