Exclusivity is another veneer on the already tense battle for your cash.
What is MS's goal here? Who is their target market?
Are they trying to sell a console to a new consumer based on their allegiance to a game they MUST play?? Or are they intent on selling the XBOX version of a game to consumers who own BOTH consoles?
When purchasing a new console does the average consumer ask: Which console is likely to have exclusive deals for additional content on the games I like now and in the future?? Buying a console is a maddening affair - back in the olden days you only had to ask yourself which had the games you MOST wanted to play. Now you need to consider myriad factors which don't make the decision *easier* they make it harder.
Peripherals, DVD/BLU playback, ongoing network costs, games, virtual games, games add ons!?
So it Must be Multi console owners? How many consumers are in this position?
I wonder what percentage of consumers are influenced at time of purchase by such commodities. Have you looked at a parents face as they try to divine this stuff at Christmas? Are the needles in haystacks that this preposterous marketing scoops up WORTH the confusion?
As a PS3 owner I feel cheated. I loved Fallout 3 and would love to play some more. MS? Those bastards! How could they do this to me? Its not improving relations! I realise that because the PC code can be easily ported to the XBOX that it makes it a more viable platform for such things so why go to the extra effort to fence in the love? I just don't see many major winners here!

God. If this s*** is going to go on everytime some exclusive DLC is going to be released, then people really need to pull their heads in. THIS IS AN COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT. Any edge that one company can get on the other, they will take. Personally, I'm happy for the DLC to be exclusive. Gives me a reason to have a XBOX360 (well, apart from the other exclusive games and XBLA).
I miss the whole schoolyard 'Nintendo is better cause it has X game'. Instead now we have 'Wow, looking at this game coming out on everything including the flush button on your toilet!!!!!111!!1!!!' I feel that games can be better if developed for one system only. Hopefully we'll be seeing more of this soon. _________________

We won't. As games get more expensive to make it's more profitable for publishers to release them on multiplatforms. _________________

You can download the update for the PC version by logging onto Games for Windows Live or downloading the update here. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users with online connectivity will receive a notification of the update upon starting the game. |
I was referring to Operation Anchorage, the Trophy Support update came out weeks ago for the PS3.

So has anyone got feedback about the patch? Any PC players out there tried it yet? Better? Worse?
I didn't get a chance to download last night, but I'm keen to hear whether it does what it claims regarding stability issues. _________________

I still get constant freezes and I haven't even left the vault yet, I'm on recommenced settings for my PC and I have no add-ons installed yet it's still as buggy as ever for me.
This is BS to me because I waited forever for this patch hoping it would fix the freezing and crashing issues yet I still get them constantly.
I have yet to play this game more than an hour without it freezing or crashing.

I think it's hilarious that instead of forming a reasonable and unbiased argument, you are quite happy to do the opposite and give someone a negative for their thoughts. If I was to do that to every one of your posts I disagreed with, you'd owe an island of $poons.
By your post, it's easy to ascertain that you own a 360 and are getting some nice DLS scoops and are loyal to a brand you get enjoyment out of.. that's great, but my point isn't just about Microsoft; it's developer or publishing companies that quite happily undercut owners of other platforms to make a quick buck. It's not a great way to make friends, is it?
Like I said. I dont own a PS3, 360 or Fallout 3 on PC. Im simply using this to make a generalization.
The last time I looked, you and I are gamers and above all; consumers. I find it quite laughable that you are so quick to make a waiver on your rights because you are merely getting what you want, or did I miss the reason behind the "'ohh its all about the gamers experience' bs" remark?
For someone with the handle "Commentator", your comments seem to be utterly personal. If you don't agree with someone elses opinions, don't take the easy way out and simply wave your hand and dismiss it as "BS" - it does little to show your capability in a constructive argument and won't do you any favours in the long run.

Just updated my card, Fallout 3 doesn't freeze as much but still freezes and crashes a little, but now my computer goes black every now and again and I have to shut it down.
What should I do to fix it?

They're not trying to make a quick buck, they're trying to turn a profit. Honestly, why wouldn't they want to fuck over the owners of the other console? It's kind of what, every sucessfull buisness has done in the history of buisness.
It's called Captalisim.

Thats the point!
Microsoft arn't trying to make friends, Friends don't pay wages, and niceness doesn't buy hardware and development packages.
They're trying to make money. _________________
