Hey folks,
We've been working on putting together a website to promote the R18+ rating for video games. The website is everyoneplays.org.au. We haven't managed to come up with a logo, so we're turning it over to you
Some requirements;
- Don't use copyrighted material
- Make sure it's easily recognisable even at smaller sizes
- Please include the name "EveryonePlays" somewhere.
Other than that, go wild. Feel free to submit a whole bunch of iterations on an idea, or different ideas. We'll be using the logo as a base for the rest of the site design (extra brownie points if you include some supporting material for the site design).
Some suggestions (not requirements);
- Don't feel that because it's about R18+ it has to be black and white (try some colour)
- I quite like the idea of including a visual representation of a spectrum of people that play games. i.e. incorporating a gradient or circle into the logo.
Whoever's logo we use will receive a game of their choice (up to $120 AUD RRP). There's no time limit, but we'll stop the comp once we've found something we're happy with, so get entering ASAP!
Please either post entries on this thread, or send them to james@palgn.com.au
Thanks!

Video games. It's an effort to support the R18+ rating being introduced for video games in Australia.

What a cool idea James.
I would just like to say i have no design experience whatsoever the only reason I've done this I was bored at work
generally I'd leave it to more experienced wizards of design.
Anyway here are my current efforts done on paint.
Explanation: the multicoloured/different font 'every' is supposed to reflect the different types of
people who are into games. Kind of of like we come from all walks of life.
The grey 'one' i thought should contrast the every to make it identifiable and i thought it looked good
against the purple of the sphere.
'Plays' i thought orange is a playful colour then lets make it bold and italic cause it looks playful also.
It makes no sense i know.
Blue cause i thought palgn likes a blue palet
I went for clean corporate professional style as a contridiction almost of the words is says.
I played around with capitalising some letters but this and the 's' capitalised were the only
ones that looked any good.
Anyway enjoy this because it's as creative as I'm ever going to get.
Maybe it might give an expert an idea. _________________

Hi-res so we can scale down. Preferably png or psd on a transparent background.

I picked the nice warm colours because everyone prefers happy colours and they're colours that both the old and young love.
The 0 < Everyone Plays < Infinity is obviously a play on that there are no age restrictions in which people play games. I reckon as opposed to saying just 18+ or anything like that we should show more along the lines of 'everyone' as purely promoting the 18+ side of things and not the sub 18 side of things is just pushing out another group of gamers.
I do reealise that my attempt is pretty crappy and considering I have no photoshop talent it's honestly the best I could do. The main point of my attempt was to push for other people adding something along the lines of the 0 < Infinity sort of thing. _________________

If you have media with childlike insignias as above (no offence) that is all that they will see.
Games need to be seen as an artform and no shlick pic or banner is going to sway anyone.
People need to see a video of some great artistic venture whether it be ala SOTC or even Farenheit or mass effect even whether it involves violence and such but plays out as if your were in an interactive movie..
Btw..dont use manhunt as an example lol.
Btw, the people that pass these laws read scripts and dont really go anywhere near a console per sei let alone play the damn thing.
They are beureacratic buffoons.
And until we have some people that are "with" the times..well we aren't going to see jack shiz in all regards no matter how hard we cry and whinge. _________________

just a heads up. dont put too many hours into this, its $120. think of the money theyre saving on a graphic designer. look up the original desogner of the nike tick. i think she walked away with about $60 at first. then after several years, she was finally offered a job.
now im not poo-pooing this offer coz it is for a good cause, i myself may enter. i guess all i really want to know if full recognition will be granted, and in what way? _________________

Yes, you will receive credit on the website, although the group will have copyright on the image.
Having said that, you can fairly easily get a logo design for $120 on a lot of freelance websites. I was going to do that, but decided to bring it here to give the community a chance to produce it instead.
There is also quite a bit of difference between a multi-national corporation like Nike, and a activist group that supports an issue you presumably believe in...
So far I think BurnZ has the best one, but yes I'd like to see some that look a little more professional. As Zarnoss says, we need something that will be taken seriously.

Originally started basing it off BHP's logo and got that.
Incorporation of Earth being a show of "Everyone".
EDIT:
Combined the 2 somewhat.

i agree with Zarnoss, some of these images are cool in their own right, but aren't really useful in context.
i like Taco's though - uses a motif that's recognisable with the issue, and gives some basic, visual representation of what to expect.
* NOTE: i have nothing to do with this new venture - just offering my opinion on the issue banners posted thus far and these opinions might not coincide at all with what James is looking for, so don't take this necessarily as advice or instruction * _________________

Edit: Feck, imageshack's resizer has made it all blurry.
Please be assured that it's much sharper in the psd. _________________

well I was bored so I just had quick go at this...
here is the original idea, I chose light and dark, and make the text in a circular pattern as a way to symbolize 'everyone'. I chose a dark red background because 1, i love that colour, but it also represents that we are all human.
anyway... I then I got bored and put some gaming characters in there Even though im assuming these cant be used lol
hehe maybe a bit too 'jumbled'
Would be awesome to represent parent approval
maybe ill have a better go later... but atm im too bored to even do this lol the top one doesn't resemble gaming enough, so that would be the next step. _________________ http://bencadphotography.com/

If ever **** had a more appropriate time to be used as a noun, I can't think of it because segax... that is The ****.
Simple yet it nails the point right home, and it's easy to understand for anyone viewing it as well. There's some really great ideas cropping up from you guys, I enjoy seeing them.

Is their such a thing as a generic controller though ? All controllers belong to some company .. which kind of controller did you have in mind ? _________________
