I always wonder how much of the 360 install base is new or seperate customers, and how much is the buying of replacement consoles.
Still only makes the games sales per customer more impressive though. _________________

Mate, what are you on about- LIVE content non-existent? You should open your eyes, perhpas you'll find some that way..Not to mention we're now actually paying some of the lowest rates for MS Points nowadays!
Think before you post next time- or at least explain yourself properly.

It really amazes me how this point is often missed when people are debating how well a console has done. Sony's pumped out 'x' consoles, but how does that help them when a significant number are being used exclusively as Blu-Ray players. The same goes for the Wii, it maybe selling a huge amount of hardware, but most people I know with one only really have Wii Sports, Guitar Hero and then one or two other games like Wii Fit or Zelda.
Massive Kudos to Microsoft for supporting an extensive library of decent games this time around.

Hang on.. Xbox has been out longer than PS3 and Wii, so that goes to say, a. there are more games out for it and b. people have had longer to buy more games for it.. I love it how conclusions are made halfway through a lifecyle..
In the end, who gives a crap who is ahead in sales/consoles, the margin (hopefully) will never be as swayed as it was back in the SNES/PSone days and Im all the more happier for it.. A closer race means that companies have to keep consumers happy..

That's hardly fair. Any available console is way ahead, because games for 'next generation consoles' aren't out yet. The accessory sales are probably thanks to the 'nothing included in the box' policy. _________________ Where facts are few, experts are many.

uhh say what?
after looking at the first 23 months of each console of the market, you can see that xbox were already ahead in their sales, and indicating that over 4 milllion games are sold, and 500000 console sales havnt been reached it has proved that xbox 360 owners are buying even more games, with the attachment rate being above 8.0
Although a total assumption I beleive that this would be the opposite for wii, many people buying it as a gimmick. I think it would be safe to say that 360 owners on average would buy at least two more games than wii owners

I get what you're saying, but I still say it aint over til the generation ends..
I know I own more xbox360 games than PS3, but thats cause I had the xbox360 for 9 months before the PS3.. In that time I bought around 5 games for it. Since buying the PS3 I've bought more games on that consoles than the xbox360 (around 10 on PS3 compared to around 7 on xbox360), but combined together, I still have more xbox360 titles cause it had 9 months without competition for my money.. Give it another year and my collection might turn around..
As for the Wii.. well, I have no comeback for that, I dont think I've bought 5 games for it, so Im behind the average there!!! sorry Nintendo!
In the end though, Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony are always going to come out and quote the stats they want that say they're awesome.. I'd love to see malfunction stats!! My damn 360 red ringed twice in 6 months.. Been faulty free for almost 2 years now though, so maybe I should shut up..

I dont think you grasped the fact that those stats were taken when all consoles had EXACTLY the same amount of time. you buying 10 ps3 games since it has been out and only 13 xbox games in its whole time doesnt effect the fact that overall in its opening months xbox users on average buy more games.. which is where most consoles make their money (with the exception of nintendo)

^that graph doesn't take into account factors such as 360 having no competition for its first 9-12 months (depends which country) of its 23 months, so anyone looking for next gen had no other choice but the 360 and its games, where as wii and ps3 in their first 23 months both had fierce competition with each other AND the 360 head start

Only 6-7 games per console is the norm? Hmmm, that would make me about 5 times more normal than everyboday else on all 3 platforms
But back to topic:
As much as I hate MS you really have to respect how good their marketing machine is, they are able to spout as much over-hyped bull-crap as sony but without technically lying.

Look at what is available for US and a lesser extent EU customers.....then compare to AU.
