I want the HDD so bad I can feel my pants getting tighter every day they bring up the topic.
I will be buying it when it is released. And I hope the games they launch with it are bad a$$.

I havn't really decided if I'll get the HDD or not. Unless it can do something cool other than decrease loading times, I don't see why I should waste my money.
I'll wait to see what it can do.

The hard drive is a definate no for me. I still cant believe SONY wants to release it. As an attention grabber it works ie announcing a HD add on when it did took some excitemnt away from Microsofts HD capable console. But as a usefull add-on that will see games improve? Dont bet on it.
Think about the N64 expansion pack. Relatively inexpensive, yet it still sold poorly. Fact is gamers dont want to buy hardware add-ons for their consoles.
Developers realise this. So they will always skew their games towards PS2 biggest install base ie those without the HD. Dont expect konami to announce some huge game that's only possible thanks to the HD's grunt. At best you'll get software that has slight graphical improvements when using the HD, but the games still gunna run without it. So why will you buy it? Well if you want to download extra costumes for your games......
I buy consoles to play games. Unless someone can tell me how the PS2 HD will significantly improve the games I play, then I'll buy more games instead.
Buying another console to accompany your PS2 would make more sense then getting the add-on.

No, numbers were so low that sony only made ones that were pre-ordered.
I'll definately buy the NA, but not the HD. Square have already announced that you will most likey be able to play FFXI without the HD.... and if you cant, i'll just get the game for PC [which has been confirmed].
The one thing I really dont get is why sony are still going ahead with it... all currently existing games where made without HD support.. therefore you cant use the HD to save game files, you're still going to need those damn expensive memory cards.
